Isn’t scalping already illegal there?

The first six words of the article is an indicator:

I get it. Big scalpers buy up all the tickets before the little scalpers have a chance.

Back in the late 80’s to mid 2000’s me and my buddy would just park in the lot, drink beer, grill up some tips and wait for the always eventual scalper to walk by.
did this a ton of times.
Still got a pile of stubs to prove it.
Ozzy - 20 bucks
Jethro Tull - 18 bucks
Van Halen - 20 bucks
ZZ Top - 22 bucks
Def Leppard - 20 bucks
etc etc..
Now that a ticket costs hundreds of dollars for mediocre talent i have no idea how it works nowadays..

I waited on line for a few hours at the Roosevelt Field mall in NY in 1983 to get tickets for the Police/Joan Jett/REM concert at Shea Stadium. The cost was 19.99 per ticket for very close field seats. And that was more expensive than tickets to Jethro Tull, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Genesis, Journey, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, and so many others.
Now people will routinely pay $1500 to see Taylor Swift, and my daughter said Morgan Wallen tix in NJ were like $1200. Just insane, and sad that young people who work in a McDonalds or whatever can't unwind at a fun concert of their favorite band with a few hours of pay.
P.S. of course we also actually experienced the show, instead of, well, you know...

Considering Ticketmaster is charging $1800 for a FLOOR admission for AC/Dc in Vancouver this year, I really don’t care anymore.

Blatant imposition of commie trash price controls.
If yah want to solve this just forbid any purchases of >6 tickets at a time. This will make bulk buyouts so much a pain in the arse that the scalpers will quit. This sorta worked when other arseoles were buying up the precursors for meth from drug stores. Limit how much anyone can buy and keep an eye on repeaters.

Recently saw one NBA game going for $7. They usually start around $100 to $900 - per game. One Taylor in New Orleans ticket was going for $78,000. One left out of four. Someone eventually snagged it - plus fees.
