Companies and top executives appear eager to curry favor with President-elect Donald Trump as he readies to take office
The $170 million mark, which could reportedly reach $200 million, outpaces Trump’s reported 2017 inauguration committee raise of $107 million.
The inaugural committee is also reportedly no longer selling tickets to donors to attend Trump’s swearing-in and accompanying private events.
The record number comes just four years after many of the same companies and executives turned their backs on Trump following the 2020 election.
The Times reported the remarkable shift in corporate attitude towards Trump:
Mr. Trump often talks privately about who has supported him, and the frenzy to donate to his inauguration — even if it comes without the usual exclusive access — underscores the degree to which deep-pocketed donors and corporations are seeking to curry favor with him. Far more than in early 2017 at the start of his first term, corporate America has largely embraced Mr. Trump during his transition, partly out of a desire to get on his good side.
Prospective donors began to be told early this week that no more seats were available for certain events around Washington,.... The packages offered to corporate and individual donors had originally been marketed.. but they ended early given the extraordinary demand.

On account of the shortage of seating at V.I.P. events, some donors have taken the unusual step of offering donations as high as $1 million without receiving anything in return. Seats at the inaugural address, tickets to the ritzy balls or access to other events are typically a major part of why major donors cut checks. Inaugural events are a key time for the lobbying industry, and they draw donations from corporations and wealthy donors eager to gain influence or make amends with a new administration.

My opposition to H1B has nothing to do with Race.. the program is a fraud and abused wholesale, and it cannot be “fixed”. It does not serve the purpose it claims to, H1B is to skilled workers what illegals are to unskilled, period.
I don’t blame the people who come here on H1B’s they are just trying to better their lives, if I was in their shoes I would likely do the same thing. I blame the government for the H1B fiasco.
So Elon, when American’s are getting fired so they can be replaced by H1B folks, don’t try to tell me how “great” the program is. It is the most fraudulent and abused Visa program in the US, BAR NONE.
Last year 50% of the initial applicants for H1B’s were found to be fraudulent. Please don’t try to lecture me or anyone else, H1B visa program is a scam and always has been, and always will be. It cannot be fixed, it needs gone.
For 3 decades I have watched it be abused wholesale, I have sat in the meetings where executives have flat out ordered that no American be hired, make sure you only bring in H1Bs. I have witness this stuff FIRST HAND... don’t try to tell me how I am wrong or that I am racists, because that’s an abject lie.

I’ve worked with folks on H1B who were fantastic, and I’ve worked with ones that are absolutely useless... Just like ALL employees. Anyone claiming H1B’s are all great, is just lying.
Worked with countless folks from all over the world in my career, I don’t care about anyones background when I work with them, I just care if they can do the job and do it effectively. Elon tossing the “racist” label out at anyone who opposed H1B is repugnant. I know he’s only recently converted from being a Liberal, but he needs to re-evaluate his statements.
My experience with H1B is, point blank, the program is a scam, period. I’ve seen it first hand countless times. This program is not salvageable, it needs gone. There is no shortage of US tech workers... there might be in some geographic areas, but not so much that we need to be importing folks to fill jobs. If they are importing folks to fill jobs its because they simply don’t want to pay the prevailing wages to get an American to do the job.
Not just make amends, but to ingratiate themselves to Trump, bow down, grovel, seek help. It’s good to see, but what embarrassing behavior.
Opportunity time. Trump should take every penny and send it to California relief efforts. Have a small intimate inauguration party with a few friends and family sans fanfare and press.
We all know the media will come out with “SHAMELESS HEARTLESS CRUEL TRUMP PARTIES WHILE CALIFORNIA BuRNS. Women and children hardest hit.”
Don’t you just love how the open borders, Chamber of Commerce Freepers lie by claiming that this is a deep state “misinformation”’operation? Musk’s nasty, anti-American tweets are there for the world to see. They just lie constantly about it because they cannot argue the facts.

But, someone has to be responsible for all handling of all Fed relief efforts. Does anyone know Trump’s choice for FEMA Administrator?
Still no answer about the validity of Musk’s tweets from the open borders, Chamber of Commerce Freeper.
What if half of that $ went to mini homes in NC flood zone, or scholarships for families of fallen cops?
I wonder if that will change this time around.
I hope a great deal of it is spent on security for him and his family.

People are ignorant. If they have no personal experience with something, they are happy to swallow whatever they are fed so long as it fits their pre-defined world view, or if it comes from someone they deem to be “reliable”.
This is true of all people, its human nature. Those that manipulate depend on this to manipulate them.
I’ve worked professionally in IT since the 90s, the H1B program is an absolute FRAUD... Its been abused since it was first created, and its abused wholesale.... You can’t “fix” it, they have tried, all the changes do is change how it gets gamed.
H1B is to skilled workers, what illegals are for unskilled, PERIOD. It is the most abused and fraudulent visa program in the US. There is no salvaging it. It has never functioned as they try to claim its supposed to, and it never ever will.
