Donald Trump did not rule out using military force to take control of the Panama Canal and Greenland and announced a bold plan to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the 'Gulf of America'.
The president-elect, 78, announced his threat of coercion on the global stage and the name swap during a wild and wide-ranging press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday morning.
He laid out his vision for the world, took aim at Canada and tore into President Joe Biden's climate agenda.
Trump also attacked his nemesis, Special Counsel Jack Smith, by calling him a 'nutjob' and demanding all his criminal cases be brought to an end.
'He will execute everybody',' he raged before taking questions from the press.
Just 13 days before the inauguration, he said the United States was entering the 'golden age' and will 'take off like a rocketship' when he gets the keys back to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
He also slammed the crackdown on gas heaters by saying electric heaters 'itch' and said windmills are killing whales.
In a remarkable moment, a reporter asked Trump if could assure he would not use 'military or economic coercion' to take control of the Panama Canal and Greenland.
'I´m not going to commit to that,' Trump said, when asked if he would rule out the use of the military. 'It might be that you´ll have to do something. The Panama Canal is vital to our country.' He added, 'We need Greenland for national security purposes.'
He has been ramping up threats to take over both in recent weeks as he prepares for his second term.

I think it’s more a way to needle the American, than true as to how they actually identify.

Nixon was asked similar questions about the use of the military, nukes, etc. After his presidency he explained that he left ALL options on the table. Even if he was 99% sure he would not use an option, he didn’t think our enemies needed to know that.
Seems pretty ridiculous with regard to the canal or Greenland though. Until Russia starts setting their eye on Greenland, or the Chinese in Panama.
Hadn’t thought about that viewpoint. Admittedly, my sample was small and I was the brunt of jokes.
I was working in a power plant in Chile and heard a worker swearing up a blue streak after smashing his thumb. I didn’t know most of what he was saying, but I kept hearing “puta.” At lunch in the canteen that day, I didn’t have a fork at my place setting. One of my new “friends” told me to ask the waitress for a “puta.” I said “No, no, no!” and all of his friends laughed that I didn’t fall for it. All I knew at the time was that “puta” was most assuredly NOT “fork.”

I was always taught we got the name from the Italian explorer and navigator Amerigo Vespucci. He was from the Republic of Florence and participated in at least two voyages of the Age of Discovery between 1497 and 1504, first on behalf of Spain and then for Portugal.
Why not the country to our south to be called Trumpsico?

100 percent wrong. Bush wanted to bering Democracy. Trump cares about US interests only.
Oh stuff it. He is caring about American interests first. The World has been pushing America around, and he’s had enough of it.
What happened is mainstream media asked him to affirm whether he would do either of these things and he said he wouldn’t tell them if he did one way or the other.
“did not rule out” is key here. Trump already knew what the media would do with this.

He did not say that we wanted to “take over” Greenland which is what thhe media wants to project.
The Pnama Canal is leaking and asking us for money to fix it even though china is running it.
I see where Trump is coming from on that one. It is of major US importance.
