A year-to-date after three Kansas City Chiefs fans were last seen alive, it is still unclear why they died in their friend’s snowy backyard — and authorities have not handed down any criminal charges in their deaths.
Clayton McGeeney, 37; Ricky Johnson, 38; and David Harrington, 36, visited their longtime friend Jordan Willis’ home in Kansas City, Missouri, on Jan. 7, 2024 to watch the Chiefs play the Los Angeles Chargers.
Two days later, the three men were found dead on Willis’ property by McGeeney’s fiancée. Willis could not be reached by phone and did not answer his door in the days afterward, according to family members who searched for the three friends who never returned home.
Although preliminary autopsy results shared with the media by family members indicate that fentanyl, cocaine and marijuana were in their systems, the deceased men’s families have questioned Willis’ involvement in what happened, with some threatening to file lawsuits.

Simple enough. Fentanyl laced cocaine and boom. The homeowner was asleep for a day and a half.
The last time i had cocaine, fentanyl and weed in my system, I didn’t freeze...
Wait, never mind.
I was listening to Joe Rogan recently. He stated that both Tom Petty and Prince had died of accidental Fentanyl overdoes.
Meaning they thought they were doing Coke and did not know it was spiked with fentanyl.
They got drunk, got stoned and passed out outside.
In the middle of winter in Kansas City, that’s fatal.
That’s not what got Tom Petty. He broke his hip but did not want to interrupt the tour for his fans. He overdosed on painkillers he was taking to deal with his hip.
The fact that he had been a drug user in the past, may have contributed but in his case, his death was accidental overdose on painkillers.
Pretty straight-forward what HAPPENED.
Sounds more like they’re still wondering who to BLAME - ie., who can we exploit for cash?
Was he taking legal fentanyl pain killers?
That night in KC it was single digit temps subzero windchill effects. My theory is the guys wanted one last toke together. They went in the backyard so the neighbors wouldn’t see and call 5-O. Fentanyl laced weed caused them to pass out. The host was probably already passed out from the same and was totally unaware those guys were still in his yard.
Sorry for their families, I guess, but four guys in their late-30s sitting around doing hard drugs watching football doesn’t move the needle for me. Good riddance.
