I like preparing and using a few of those beans in the photo.
Black, Pinto, Lentils, Kidney and Black Eye Peas.
Each produces it’s own unique sauce and color when fully cooked. The trick is not to overcook, when all the beans shed and discard their ‘outer jackets’, because that pureed texture can make it harder for the stomach to digest.

I love beans. All kinds, I don’t think there’s one I don’t like. Easy to grow, easy to cook, tons of recipes, and good for you. This time of year I like a good bowl of bean and bacon soup. Yum.

Having made a big pot of ham and bean soup yesterday and consuming two steaming bowls of same last night, I am in full compliance!

Beans, beans, the musical fruit!

“At War with the Army” (1950) Jerry Lewis sings “Beans”

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0042209/?ref_=nm_flmg_job_1_cdt_t_72

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNkLTAd68KY

In the Navy they get steak, caviar and whipped cream cake
They have fancy cooks who know what cookin’ means
In the Army we get mess, and it really is a mess
Oh, the Navy gets the gravy, but the Army gets the beans
(Beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)

Send a salami to your boy in the army
Yes, the Navy gets the gravy, but the Army gets the beans
(Beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)

Navy service is ideal, printed menus every meal
And they decorate your plate with parsley greens
In the Army, we get chow that you wouldn’t feed a Chow
Oh, the Navy gets the gravy, but the Army gets the
Beautiful beans, gorgeous beans, succulent beans (beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)

Send a baloney, ‘cause I’m skinny and boney
Yes, the Navy gets the gravy, but the Army gets the beans
(Beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)
(Nothing but beans)

Loving those beans, huggin’ those beans
Know what It means, mommy, I love ya
Nothing but beans
(Beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)

Oh, it seems bell-bottomed pants are conducive to romance
They are wined and dined and loved by movie queens
But you wear a khaki frame, and you get a wacky dame
Oh, the Navy gets the gravy, but the Army gets the beans
(Beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans, beans)

It is only the beans
You can grab a marine, and you show him a bean
He says, what does it mean, that I never have seen
So you grab a civilian, and one in a million can identify
So I say to you, why do we got to have beans?

Multiple beans, tropical beans, succulent beans
Nothing but beans, beans
Nothing but beans

That was one of the longest posts ever about beans!!

I make this often:

2900-FC51-6-CDF-4-BE5-B76-D-FB534-A9-B1-F4-C

My family loves it so much - you can use any meat you have on hand - I've used kielbasa, smoked sausage, honey-baked ham, chicken cubes. Hard ever any leftovers, serve it over corn bread.

Just finished up some delicioius navy bean soup - I cook it all in my crock pot, I think it turns out better that way.

Family is now asking for split pea soup - made with honey-baked ham (although my SIL asked me not to give any of his to my brother, it makes her night miserable..).
