Since the 65-year-old parody musician's career began in the 1970s, he's earned legitimate hits, won five Grammy Awards, consistently toured the world and earned respect from many of the artists he's spoofed — so why not welcome him into the prestigious music organization?

If the Supremes made it into the Hall of Fame, they deserved it. They can rock!
Snap, Crackle & Pop--The Supremes (1958)
George McGovern's presidential campaign song
Thx, will watch that soon.
Yep.
Because he plays the accordion.
Yeah thats a pretty thin excuse. Maybe because they often were staged to look like they were playing the instruments. The Supremes never did that.
I think though its pretty lame. I mean “instrument syncing” but you’re singing disqualifies you, but how many singers do concerts lip syncing or using autotune on their tracks, they still get inducted?
He doesn’t write the music. He writes lyrics. I believe he is the most prolific song writer of our time. But he uses other people’s melodies.
Wenner was kicked out of the HoF board a couple years ago. He’s got nothing to do with it anymore.
Well the Jackson 5 has been in there since 1997, and since Wayne Osmond died on New Years Day I say it’s time to get the Osmond Brothers in there too. They’re not getting any younger and they sold close to 80 million records.
No Tull, no Hall. Period.
Oh boy. My hubby will be all over this.
We went to the HOF last summer and Al was listed as maybe #4 on their long list of fan votes.
I put in for him along with Connie Francis and a few others.
Hubby is all too aware of his favorite not being in! Sigh.
Still prefer Eat it and Like a Surgeon.
Paul Shanklin for me is the ultimate Gangsta Paradise parody - thanks, Rush!
Yes he does, but the fact you don’t know, shows how they go nowhere!
Sorry guys, I only think hit-makers should get in - so many no-names in there, fringe bands whose fame is due mostly to their few devotees hogging the internet, never mind not “R&R” of any kind that is in there.
Yes, never mind all the “blues” and other black predecessors. Mostly because, black.
They’re all great (well, most are) but not “rock & roll” - although, that’s debatable anyway. People act like rock only began with hippies of San Fransicko and has to be hard.
Spinal Tap deserves it 1,000 times more than him. And they’re awful.
Might as well throw in The Partridge Family and Bay City Rollers.
In A Yugo.
Is it because Weird Al is the only one left that isn’t in the R&RHOF?
That didn't stop Linda Ronstadt from being inducted. She's a cover artist with a great voice.
i would like to see weird al ABDUCTED to the rock n toll hall of fame.
