Since the 65-year-old parody musician's career began in the 1970s, he's earned legitimate hits, won five Grammy Awards, consistently toured the world and earned respect from many of the artists he's spoofed — so why not welcome him into the prestigious music organization?

Dolly is classy like that.
My absolute favorite - and even with nothing but palindromes, makes about as much sense as “Subterranean Homesick Blues”.
The Monkees did play their own instruments, just not on the studio albums. Mike and Micky were in garage bands and Peter played piano since his childhood and learned several other instruments. Davy could play guitar but usually just played percussion instruments in concert.
My favorite “Weird Al” song is Word Crimes. They should probably play that one in English classes.
While putting him in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would be a good thing, I’d really love to see him do the halftime of a Super Bowl. It’ll be a thousand times better than anything they’ve had for the last few years.
(And I’d hope they kick it off with ‘Dare To Be Stupid’)
There’s been a huge contingent pushing for years for Warren Zevon to be inducted. Billy Joel threw his support behind the effort last year when Warren was nominated, but he was denied again.
As Stereogum notes, “That may be partially because Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner, who co-founded the Hall and served as chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation until 2020, famously held a grudge against Zevon.”
I did see it and agree, a great documentary of the Muscle Shoals sound.
I likewise suggest "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" about the Funk Bros.

He is a musical genius- yeah, he went weird, but he really is an accomplished musician
I don’t really know how rock and roll is defined.
I think I know it when I hear it, when hearing music by a group such as Van Halen.
But is Billy Joel considered rock? Paul Simon? Kim Carnes?
The Bee Gees? Men at Work from the land down under? Rod Stewart? Cat Stevens? Gordon Lightfoot? Pat Benetar?
That guy who did music chart countdowns, KC Kasem, always talked about the rock era of music, implying that the modern music he was playing in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, was all some version of rock and roll. I’ve heard some say that disco music was part of the evolution of rock and roll.
So if Cher is rock, how many others are also considered rock and roll musicians.
Watch Weird AL do a Killer Parody
on this So Called ‘Hall of Shame!”
.
Al and Ted Nugent should Roast’em!
>>His best song is either “Amish Paradise” or the The Saga Begins (My, My, This Here Anakin Guy)
I love this one because I could never understand that danged trilogy until I made this song, so I’m eternally grateful “Weird Al” did this one.
The Saga Begins

But Amish Paradise is one of my favorites because that was one of my favorite movies. LOVE Harrison Ford after standing in line for Star Wars and Raiders.

Brilliant. I couldn’t agree more.
If you Eat it you might get Fat and have to go on the Grapefruit Diet.
Your Horoscope for Today says you'll Dare to be Stupid and ignore the Virus Alert because you think It's all about the Pentiums.
Forget that. He otta be in the cabinet.
Weird Al can’t be inducted. They are adding too many Country artists to include him also.
Have you seen the documentary of The Wrecking Crew?
Peter York explains that when they first got a contract he asked why The Wrecking Crew was in the studio.
He said yes, he was that naive.
I’m still waiting for Johnny Rivers.
I hope Weird Al gets inducted soon.
Nowadays it’s mostly cRap music and glitzy bubble gum pop.
