Mexican?
Same six ingredients in different layers
Yuck
Much Mexican food in general is very overrated. I like it fine occasionally but it should not be expensive. It is just basic food of a certain type.
Prices in Mexican restaurants have gone up and up, as though it is “fine food.” For the same money it costs at those places, much better non-Mexican food can be gotten.
Cheaper Mexican places are often as good or better as the expensive ones, and are OK for basic economical meals when atmosphere and food quality for a serious date or anniversary are not the goal. We know a few and they work well when we simply do not want to cook. And they beat places like McDonalds in price and quality and even prompt service, for sure.
Mexican food is much more than that. If you’re ever in Salt Lake City (yes, that one in Utah), give the Red Iguana a try. They have seven different mole’ dishes (six listed in the mole’ section of the menu and an almond mole’ dish in the classic section.) They also have cochinita pibil which is a Yucatan speciality. I’ve had everything I mentioned, and it’s all great. They do the typical Mexican food too, but that’s not the reason to go there.
