Sadly, this did seem to be a race thing. If only the staff had properly defended themselves against assault (throwing signs by the white girl) I’d have been completely on their side. Clock that assailant, and call the cops. Woulda been a perfect win for the good guys.

With blacks it is “fights on” rather than handling the nut case customer.
A lot of civilized behavior is from the people involved calmly dealing with the occasional oddball or trouble maker, Japanese probably try to calm their situations rather than join in and make a melee.
