Starbucks To Change Its Matcha And Drop New Drinks Next Year, According To Leak
MSN ^ | Dec 30, 2024 | Louise Rhind-Tutt

Starbucks' early 2025 menu has been leaked online, and it appears big changes are ahead at the coffee chain. Called the "winter part two menu," it comes after Starbucks holiday menu was released in November with the likes of Cran-Merry Orange Refresher and a Turkey Sage Danish.

The winter part two menu will allegedly drop on January 2, but food blogger @Markie_Devo got their hands on some major details ahead of time. Among the new options, there will be a revamped formula for matcha lattes. The new matcha powder will be completely unsweetened, rather than containing sugar as it has in the past, meaning anyone will be able to customize the level of sweetness in the drink.

Starbucks' new winter menu also has something for lovers of small yet powerful caffeinated beverages — a new Cortado. According to food blogger Markie Devo, it will come in an 8-ounce "short" option and will include three ristretto shots of Starbucks Blonde Espresso. It can be made plain with steamed whole milk, or in a Brown Sugar Oatmilk version with brown sugar syrup, cinnamon powder, and steamed oat milk. A ristretto shot of espresso is made with less water and offers a more intense flavor, and is one of the Starbucks customizations baristas love, so this should be a popular option.

It’s a perennial New Years resolution of mine to frequent the chain less but alas: unsweetened matcha and a cortado with that exact blonde espresso concoction & ratio are two of the things I’ve been wishing they had. Go figure.

“Drop”? Why the continuous ghetto? I like old America, we’re new products were released, or announced.

The new drip coffee machines that Starbucks instituted mid this year are absolutely horrible! The coffee now is absolutely disgusting.

I have yet to meet ANYONE who goes to Starbucks on a regular basis that isn’t gay, although I suspect that there might be a few of them.

We should refuse redefined words when the opposite meaning is being used instead of the original meaning.

The use of "drop" to mean "release in a carefully controlled manner" has been standard for political news circles for many years. One common usage is the late-Friday release of bad or embarrassing news, timed for minimum coverage. I'm pretty sure the "ghetto" use is more recent and derivative.

I thought “drop” meant they were removing items from their menu.

Anyway, I don’t go there much. Overpriced and a lot of coffee and sugar. Don’t care for lattes.

Any matcha connoisseurs out there? I’m going to Japan for the first time in April and know that they love it. It’s in everything from tea to ice cream.

I like traditional green tea, but I’ve never tried matcha and wonder why it’s so popular now. And, is it actually good in things like ice cream, or is that just a fad?

Liz.  Back in the 1960s, growing up on Cape Cod (one of the favorite spots to grow cranberries), my Dad would serve up a drink for relatives and friends called the "Cape Canaveral".

A swirling "lift-off" effect was achieved by splashing some cranberry juice down a glass of orange juice.

Sounds like Starbucks missed some drama.  Happy New Year to You, my FRiend.

A barista told me it’s now 200 degrees fresh from the machine. If you’re used to the old system where coffee was a good deal cooler you’ll either spray super hot coffee everywhere or scald your mouth. I’ve witnessed both.
