The funeral for former President Jimmy Carter, who died on Sunday at the age of 100, will be held on Jan. 9 at Washington National Cathedral.
Carter, the son of a peanut farmer who was elected the nation’s 39th president, passed away surrounded by family at his home in Plains, Georgia, just months after he became the longest-lived former chief executive in U.S. history.
President Joe Biden, who praised Carter as a "man of principle, faith, and humility," has also marked Jan. 9 as a National Day of Mourning for the former Democratic president.
Biden said in March 2023 that Carter had asked him to deliver his eulogy. Their relationship spans decades, back to when Biden endorsed Carter for the presidency during Biden's first term as a senator in 1976.

Oh God.
The question is will Biden get Carter’s name correct.
Lol.
This should be fun.
It’ll be interesting to see if Donald shows up.
Quite.
I doubt he will.
“”Biden endorsed Carter for the presidency during Biden’s first term as a senator in 1976.””
We got our first clue 48 years ago!!!!!!
I think he will but I wouldn’t blame him if he skips it. No doubt insults will be directed toward him since the dims make these political rallies.
Popping the popcorn now...
“”Biden said in March 2023 that Carter had asked him to deliver his eulogy.””
Why then? Probably another story! That guy doesn’t know when or how to tell the truth - talking about a eulogy BEFORE it’s time?????
IE - McCain’s funeral - as I remember there were several!
Right...I don’t think Joe can get through it
The two WOAT, together.
Are bookmakers making book on the number of gaffs?
I suppose pulling up in his garbage truck would be tacky...
For all his shortcomings, Carter was at least a true believer in his (flawed) approach to foreign policy, actually served in the armed forces, and wasn’t a crook. He left office humiliated by the Iran hostage crisis, but he left financially about where he came in at. He was faithful to his wife and family (except for an occasional lust in his heart) and spend many years volunteering (really doing labor) for habit for humanity.
Contrast that with the behavior of all his democratic successors.
“ It’ll be interesting to see if Donald shows up.”
He should and would be surprised if he doesn’t .
It’s part of the job.
Well, if Mr. peanut asked that Biden do it, then so be it. Whew.
Should be a “real big show” as Ed Sullivan used to say.
I am sure Trump will attend.
Trump first posted this statement on Truth Social:
“I just heard of the news about the passing of President Jimmy Carter. Those of us who have been fortunate to have served as President understand this is a very exclusive club, and only we can relate to the enormous responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History.
The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country and he did everything in his power to improve the lives of all Americans. For that, we all owe him a debt of gratitude.
Melania and I are thinking warmly of the Carter Family and their loved ones during this difficult time. We urge everyone to keep them in their hearts and prayers.”
In a separate post about an hour later, Trump wrote:
“President Jimmy Carter is dead at 100 years of age. While I strongly disagreed with him philosophically and politically, I also realized that he truly loved and respected our Country, and all it stands for. He worked hard to make America a better place, and for that I give him my highest respect. He was a truly good man and, of course, will be greatly missed. He was also very consequential, far more than most Presidents, after he left the Oval Office. Warmest condolences from Melania and I to his wonderful family!”
