Sotomayor may be replaced due to death or at least severe health conditions.
Thomas is getting to that age, which is a shame since he is a stalwart constitutional conservative vote.
From oldest to youngest, the ages of the current Supreme Court justices are:
Justice Thomas, 75
Justice Alito, 73
Justice Sotomayor, 69
Chief Justice Roberts, 69
Justice Kagan, 63
Justice Kavanaugh, 58
Justice Gorsuch, 56

thomas ~age 78
alito ~age 76
sotomayor ~age 72
roberts ~age 71
I think Alito and Thomas might be open to retirement.
I think Roberts will hang in. I suspect he likes his job far more than Trump or MAGA.
I’m pretty sure Sotomayer will hang in until a new Democratic president is sworn in or she draws her last breath. If she was going to let Joe replace her, she would have started the process by now.

It’s amazing - and a bit scary - what Google and Facebook know about average Americans. Imagine what the Deep State with all its resources could gather.

I do believe you’re correct on this, she wouldn’t subject the rest of the Clinton Crime Family to the scrutiny.

We’ll be lucky to replace Thomas and Alito with anyone nearly as good. Barrett and Kavanaugh will continue to drift left like the soft brained squishes they are. Roberts is still scum. Maybe the wide latina drops dead and we get one more good conservative.

I checked that pesky constitution thingie, and there it is in writing, the fed was granted control over immigration and naturalization.
The supreme court has ruled correctly in all arguments about this.

If Cruz goes to Supreme Court, Texas will replace him with another R senator... The Governor will appoint his replacement until a special election is held. Abbott’s selection would handily win any special election.
I agree. It would be foolish not to do so.
Justices can do whatever they want. The only way to get rid of them is their death and/or impeachment. And impeachment is very rare.
That is why we need to be extra diligent when appointing them.
So, a Supreme Court Judge cannot typically get in trouble for “conduct unbecoming” to their position.
It would probably take a ton of bad behavior or display of incompetence to hold them accountable.
He would be another Judge Gumby.
