It's still the weekend and have fun, flame away.
??? Everyone took Moe’s junk.
Porcupine.
Which of the Stooges to love the most?
Like asking a parent to decide that about their children.
Larry is the subtle star of the Stooges. Always thought Moe was a jerk, Curly was so loveable (and he loved his dogs), Shemp was ... Shemp.
But Larry’s comic timing and facial made him the funniest in, dare I say it, a subtle way (even though there was nothing subtle about the Stooges.) He was the funniest by far.
He apparently had a callus on one of his cheeks from taking so many slaps.
Some fans consider him to be the better actor of the bunch. His facial expressions in reaction to what was going on were perfect. The way he played his character, was definitely indispensable to the act.
As a teacher I can find a three stooges episode for almost every science or history block. Students ask for them every day now. I lock the door so the administration has no idea what’s going on
Larry was an awesome middle man. Moe struggled keeping him engaged as he was often preoccupied with the horses and gambling. Larry rules.
I would like to see moe in the octagon
Just lost a 16 year old golden retriever named shemp. Replaced her with another called Howard
Behind the laughter, Larry’s life was not without its challenges. A serious injury during the filming of “Half-Wits Holiday” in 1947 left him temporarily paralyzed, threatening to derail his career.
I have been a huge fan of The Three Stooges my entire life. I've attended numerous Stooges conventions in Philadelphia, and have met a number of their family members, including Larry's sister and brother-in-law. I have never heard anyone tell this story of Larry having a serious accident during the filming of "Half-Wits Holiday." However, during the filming of this short, Curly suffered a debilitating stroke that ended his career with the team. He is noticeably absent from the final few minutes of the film, leving Moe and Larry to carry on and finish the short.
The https://stoogeum.com/ is a must-see just outside of Philly.
Gary Lassin is the founder of the Stoogeum, a museum dedicated to the Three Stooges:
Lassin was born in Japan, grew up in the Philadelphia area, and earned a B.A. in economics and political science from Brandeis University. He also has an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
Childhood fascination
Lassin’s interest in the Three Stooges began in 1979 after he met his wife-to-be, Robin. Robin’s grandfather, Morris Feinberg, was the brother of Larry
LOL
Is hair pulling and eye gauging allowed in there?!? Those are his go-to moves...
Honestly I’m surprised all three plus Shemp didn’t have callouses on both sides of their faces, they slapped each other so much.
I appreciate this post. But my favorite Stooge was Shemp.
Side comment: Many decades ago I met Moe Howard, and had a brief conversation with him. He was a real gentleman.
I did not tell Moe that my favorite Stooge was Shemp, not him. I was afraid that mentioning that would cause Moe to lose his temper, and get me poked in the eyes. 🙂
Curly had the talent. Moe had the mouth. Larry Fine was just a straight guy with weird hair.
True. I know that Moe, Larry, and Curly all suffered injuries during filming, so they eventually turned over some of the more hazardous stuff to stuntmen. I don’t know about Shemp, though.

I recall there were always “shorts” in the theater. Sometimes a cartoon, sometimes a serial, sometimes the Stooges. The excitement from the kids in the audience was palpable when the Stooges came on. Then, there was elation or disappointment depending on if it was a Curly or a Shemp. Each has his merits, but Curly will always be the favorite Stooge.
