“Oh, please. More sour Boomercon nonsense. Who gives a shit? College bowl games outside of the championship pairings are nothing today but exhibitions.”
College teams get $4 million for appearing in the college playoff. Get to the next round that number increases by $6 million. For those other teams, it is an advertisement for potential players to go to that college.
As far as Boomercon nonsense, I take offense to that.
The young man was looking out for himself and his own future. That’s the American way.

So corporations and globalists should be selling out the US as fast as they possibly can? Just a logical extension of your “American Way”. Sounds like sanctified self-absorption to me.
Another De’Vondre Campbell.
Its not just football, it is all of the sports. Losing a good player on a BB team can kill it faster than losing one on a football team.
There is no importance to the Pro Bowl. And even less now.
I’m waiting for the Hefty Garbage Bag Bowl and the Trojan Condom Bowl — and the year will come when a three loss Alabama team is in one and a four loss Georgia team is in the other, and Paul Finebaum will spend three weeks explaining how one or the other should be considered the true national championship.
The only thing I want more is for the World Series to be played between two teams with losing regular season records.
This was pre planned and approved by the head coach. Not that I approve, but it wasn’t only a single players decision to let this happen.
Never considered it this way, but I could get on board with this.
He was going for some NCAA TD passing record, when he got it in the first half, he decided to sit out the 2nd half.
You are correct. I commented on football only because the article was about football
It’s not a black and white thing, my school UF had a white player who this year played a significant number of plays for the first time in his 3 years at UF, he recorded one sack despite playing major minutes this year.
He went into the portal, transferred to LSU after demanding $45,000/month, guaranteed starting job and to play on 3rd down, all in order to boost his draft stock which is marginal at best.
The QB at Texas who is also white, could be playing for a National Title in a couple of weeks, his 4 years are up but he could come back for one additional year, several schools are trying to get him to transfer with a guaranteed one-year deal worth more than he would make in the NFL should he get drafted.
There is so much money floating around for college athletes it goes far beyond a black, white thing even for marginal players not a sure fire 1st round draft pick like Cam Ward.
Big picture l have to agree with you. One knee injury would cost this young man many millions. Everyone should put themselves in his place before judging.
Looked like his coaches, players and fans cared. After all he was paid a couple million to play.
“College football is being ruined. It’s no longer about the team and representing the University.”
I see nothing wrong with professional football players making money; lots of money.
However, the professional football teams we now have squatting on college campuses on Saturday’s should be moved out. The NFL should make room for the many professional teams that need to be moved off campus. (And pay those athletes as much as you want.)
Field new campus teams made up entirely of students that attend the university for an education and play sports on the side.
College sports would still be exciting and professional teams would still be exciting.
It would appear the defense stayed in the locker room the entire game.
“Injuries are too common. They can cost the athletes millions as well as careers. Think Jake Butt, Michigan TE who tore up a knee in a bowl game. It’s the millions that are waiting for them that they have to protect.”
OK.
So what about the student-athlete playing on the offensive line that gets his neck broke protecting the future NFL quarterback?
How does the emerging professional-football-team-on-campus system protect the economic and physical health of all team members?
what a jerk

A scholarship is payment in full.
Fair? It’s not for me or you to decide. An 18 year old has just as much right to earn a living in the NFL as a grad. Then comes the draft to keep salaries down. At least the ‘students’ can enter the transfer portal and market themselves.
I’m waiting for someone to do a Curt Flood and challenge the draft in court.
That is the way it was supposed to be in the past.
I don't keep track of all the rules but I hear some college football players are legally making millions of dollars while in school. And they are playing against other college students - some of them are walk-ons - who are risking their necks to make millionaires look great.
I have no problem with corporations or even wealthy sports fans giving millions of dollars to athletes they like.
What I don't like is subsidizing a monopoly with tax dollars by paying for stadiums on college campuses to house professional NFL farm teams.
We can call these professional farm teams “college teams” but they are still professional farm teams.
It’s like the deep state, big Pharma, military industrial.
If nobody objects we’re all sheep.
