Ms. Davis is the author of “Dear Mom and Dad: A Letter About Family, Memory and the America We Once Knew.” Her father was President Ronald Reagan.
We are now in the final weeks of Joe Biden’s presidency, and I’ve been thinking about the year he had — how different it was from what he hoped last winter as he sought re-election. All presidents think about what they wanted to achieve, in the end, and how Americans will regard them. For some of us, our most vivid memory right now of Mr. Biden is from his televised debate against Donald Trump in June. I’m sure that’s not the moment Mr. Biden wants to be remembered for. But I also know that presidents come to be remembered differently, over time, for better or for worse. Their highs and lows in office, once so clearly and sharply defined, can shift in our perception. I see Mr. Biden differently now from how I did last summer, and I see his last year in office as a window into the messiness of being human.
Like most people who watched the June debate, I was shocked that night at how frail and vague Mr. Biden was. He didn’t seem present. The statements from his aides afterward were what you’d expect — he had a bad night, he was tired from traveling, he was sick. Shortly afterward the president gave a speech in North Carolina and was energetic and focused; “fiery” was how news outlets described him. But the condemnation was already taking shape, from both Republicans and Democrats: America has been deceived; the administration has been lying to us; it’s been a shadow presidency, a cover-up. The fury only grew when Mr. Biden insisted that he was still running for president and was perfectly capable of...

Maybe we should consider that rather than orchestrating some diabolical plan to deceive America, the people surrounding the president — family and staff members — were just being achingly human.
SOS. "You must not judge us by the results of our actions, only our 'intentions,' and our 'intentions' are always better than yours because we are better than you."
He had a cold.
Thanks for providing that since, of course, I won’t sign up to read the whole article. Ms Davis is so wistful in her closing, I think I feel a tear coming to my eye. Alas, given that these people lied to us, continuously, on every important issue, I’d say that the evidence preponderant in favor of the conclusion that they’re malicious instead of “achingly human.” I just thank the Lord that, as a group, they’re also stupid and incompetent. Who knows what damage they could have done if they were competent
Biden will be remembered by me for debate answer about raping in laws and sisters. The Biden way.
“Achingly human”? “Confidently fradulent” sounds better.
Patty Davis is an idiot. Wrote a terrible song with the boyfriend Bernie Leadon of the Eagles called “I wish you peace.” Typical spoiled child. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TlRws5-Z8U
The other Eagles hated the song.
desperately trying to not go down with the sinking biden ship
Patricia Reagan sucks. As does Ron Jr. They’re total bums and losers. I’m not going to blame 40 (much) though. Maureen and Michael were/are good peeps, so it must have been Nancy’s failings as a mom for why the 2nd litter turned out so badly.
“Well, your honor, I was achingly human when I engaged in the conspiracy for profit you accuse me of, and as so, all charges should be dropped against me and my conspirators “.
“My achy, breaky, pardons”
And to the extent it was just being "human", that still means they prioritized personal feelings over duty to the country. Basically, that the feelings of one man were more important than the feelings and futures of the other 350 or so million of us.
Nothing says "achingly human" like banging your 13-year-old daughter in the shower...
I'll bet Airhead Patti has NO idea about Ashley and the diary.
“Achingly human”. Sure, you risked our lives and fortune to make Joe feel better.
You did it all to save your plan to kill freedom in America.
Idk the reason but Patti Davis has had an endless case of butthurt against her own father and all of us normals ever after. Trying to defend the criminal Biden makes no sense.
There must be something in New York City’s water supply.
This piece is a winner in the “Detached from Reality” contest.
Everybody in D.C. knew in 2015 that Biden was fading fast, they were all in on the scam, especially in the Senate. Biden being a sunsetting moron led to the basement campaign. Our entire establishment in D.C. needs to be booted.
More BS from the New York Slimes.
Yes.
But for the more astute and intelligent, the most vivid memory of Mr. Biden is his appearance during the Clarence Thomas hearings back in 1991 and every appearance since then, in which Biden revealed exactly what he was, is now, and has always been.
Some people are just much smarter than others.
I doubt that Patti Reagan wrote this piece. It was written by a political operative trying to defend the corrupt Biden, his corrupt family and the corrupt Democrat Party insiders in the Biden Administration.
Patti Reagan is a dishonest spoiled brat who did everything she could to sabotage her father’s presidency.
After President Reagan went public with his alzheimers Patti reevaluated her position and decided it would be better for her to pretend to reconcile with her father.
Patti Reagan was promised something to put her name on thseeis article. Patti is still a spoiled brat.
