Pizza delivery woman didn’t like her tip — so she tried to kill the customer: cops

A Florida pizza delivery worker was so angry over a tip she got from a customer that she stabbed the woman multiple times, according to police.

Brianna Alvelo, 22, got ticked off Sunday after dropping off a pie at the Riviera Motel in Kissimmee when the customer gave her a stingy tip — so she returned with a pal and stabbed the woman, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release posted on Facebook.

“Alvelo, who was armed with a knife, began attacking one of the victims,” the sheriff’s office said. “The victim was stabbed multiple times, and items were taken from within the room.” Alvelo and her accomplice took off, while the victim was rushed to a local hospital in stable condition. The following day, cops tracked down Alvelo — although her pal, who police said was packing a gun, remains unidentified and on the loose.

The accused stabber was charged with attempted murder, home invasion with a firearm, assault and kidnapping, according to sheriff’s department records.

I have a great pizza place a mile from my house and two blocks from my workplace. Been eating there for decades. Changed owners 3 times but the food has been consistent and delicious. A nice Hispanic family runs the joint now, mother and father and daughter all work there. Probably some uncles and cousins do the delivery. They are all very nice and I am nice to them. I tip them because they work hard and smart, and often bring them surplus inventory from our business. In return they often offer me free cans of soda. Usually I call in the order and they don’t charge me until I show up, or I order on an app for pickup and add the tip on the app. But they know me by name and by my consistent pizza order and I know their names.

Lately we’ve been cutting out sugar and carbs - and it has worked I was never obese but wanted to shed some extra pounds - but when I do my cheat days it’s either a pizza from them or one of the great hamburger places nearby. I think I’ll order a pizza from them this weekend. Lots of cheap or well known pizza places around but this one is a gem and family owned and not part of a chain.

The no tax on tips might change everything in the service business if the IRS will implement that rule. Restaurants sometimes pay below the minimum wage and count on the tip to compensate the difference. It’s all screwed up and in principle I’m not a fan of minimum wage either, but it exists. Anyway the whole idea is Too Insure Proper Service or something like that. It shouldn’t be automatic or expected. Either build it into the price, pay a wage that will retain good workers and attract repeat customers, or teach people to be nice to each other - both the customer and the server. I’ve had some very horrible days, but never took it out on a waitress. Usually I’ll tip more on a bad day trying to pay it forward or reverse my luck.

when Alvelo couldn’t come up with change for the large bill
—— I’m guessing that’s a common grift.

I didn’t reply with a good explanation..

Back when we were younger.. a “TIP” was meant to express gratitude to the service given, when above and beyond (I know you understand this, but this is given as an understanding to the younger generations)..

You get good service, you give a tip.
You get great service, you give a really great tip..

You get bad service, screw the tip.......

Back in the day (when I was in university (DECADES ago), we drivers got no more than $2 an hour (was actually per delivery).. we LIVED off of the tips, and it didn’t account for the oil/gas/maintenance for our own cars.

I think anyone over about (maybe) 40 year old would understand.

Now, everyone (convenience store included) expects a tip...

I miss Japan SO much. A tip is an insult there :P

When I left the USA (1998), the MAXIMUM wage for waiters, and anyone in that business was 2.13/hour (Texas)..

They lived off of those wages. (Those positions were for uneducated young people) ... Many of those went to go on to get their GED.

Many of those were summer jobs for the high school students.

(I was a radio DJ (also had to get FCC license) for the small city as a job, starting when I was 8th grader.. and held that job until I graduated at 17yo.. Minimum wage, at the t9me, was $3.35).
