On November 21, 1945, in the Palace of Justice at Nuremberg, Germany, Justice Robert H. Jackson, Chief of Counsel for the United States, made his opening statement to the International Military Tribunal
Just needed to share this. I thought it was simply a masterpiece.
May it please Your Honors:
The privilege of opening the first trial in history for crimes against the peace of the world imposes a grave responsibility. The wrongs which we seek to condemn and punish have been so calculated, so malignant, and so devastating, that civilization cannot tolerate their being ignored, because it cannot survive their being repeated. That four great nations, flushed with victory and stung with injury stay the hand of vengeance and voluntarily submit their captive enemies to the judgment of the law is one of the most significant tributes that Power has ever paid to Reason.

Thank you for posting this excellent article. At the present time I’ve been reading Bonhoeffer, by Eric Metaxas a thoroughly complete biography . A great deal of the charges and acts are revealed in the book as they were being fulfilled. The book is excellent and reveals so much.Much more than the failed attempts to assassinate Hitler. Evidently, it was not in God’s plan to have him put out of the way. . Reading this statement in combination with the book is tremendous.
You’re welcome. I am now 56 years old...I wonder if its typical...or predictable that men become passionate about political awareness as I have become at this age. This woke Liberal social ideology is a sickness that must be smashed imho. Like George Patton said...in the movie anyway...that ideology must not just be shot (figuratively). It must be gutted to grease the treads of our political tanks. It has eroded the moral institutions of this great country. I hate it so much it makes me ill. Rant /off. Sorry.
Well, no kidding. Hitler was stupid and ignored his officers and relied on fortune tellers. If they had killed Hitler, imagine what fighting that war against Rommel would have looked like. As it was, the Lord saw fit to take Rommel (a very dangerous man) out of the way and leave Hitler (a imbecile addicted to drugs) in charge. Good for us.
And I look at where America was militarily at the outbreak of the war. No tanks to speak of. Few ships. No air force to speak of. A mere ~125,000 in our standing army. Still using the bolt action 1903 Springfield as our battle rifle. No way we should have won that war. But God had other plans.
In one of my WW2 books (I forget which), it talks about a German officer captured by our troops and taken to a base behind our lines. The Kraut was stunned at the rows and rows of food, supplies, medicine, ammunition, arty shells, tanks, jeeps, etc.
The Kraut officer said he knew right then that Germany had lost the war. He knew they could not defeat a nation that was that resourceful and prosperous.
America! America! God shed His grace on thee
The trials would never happen today. The Nazis would be honored with parades and be touted as oh so brave. “Brave” is another word the left has turned upside down.
Yeah, that’s the point.
