The big story this week is the how X (formerly Twitter) worked to dramatically change the American legislative process. As Chamath Palihapitiya said, "People are underestimating what happened here [The Continuing Resolution]. This was a multi hundred billion dollar grift that was stopped on a dime over 12 hours of tweets. You would have never thought this was possible. To put a dagger in something that big that had so much broad support just a few hours earlier is so consequential in how the United States can run going forward."
But if you grasp the background for this feat -- the story of how Axelrod and Obama, a struggling and complacent media, puppet NGOs, and a corrupt bureaucracy for years created a false preference cascade which fed absurd crazes like “defend the police,” ”structural racism,” “white privilege,” ”assigned gender,” ”genocide in Gaza” -- you can better understand the fast collapse. Obama’s was an autocratic regime which, using David Axelrod’s once benign psychological creation, sold large swaths of the public counterfactual, illogical nonsense like ObamaCare, the Iran deal, and Russiagate, and used COVID hysteria to transfer billions of dollars from the rest of us to the top 1% and corrupt our electoral system, but it was utterly without foundation: In sum, sanity finally overcame politically manipulated hallucinatory thinking.
BACKGROUND STORY
To fully understand how the continuing resolution was defunded, how Trump won, and how Benjamin Netanyahu was able to properly defend Israel free of Obama’s delusionary views of reshaping the Middle East, read this lengthy, well-researched and argued essay by David Samuels.
I urge you to read it all. I have not space to do it justice but I’ll try to summarize it. In 2000 the media landscape switched to online communications as 20th-century media collapsed. Early internet communications were on small

Maybe the left can all go back to Democratic Underground and leave everyone else alone.
Bit of a typo there: “Defend the police”.
That is a typo! That is what they are NOT doing.

Think about how history is going to look back at all this. Trump will be the most consequential President in History and Musk will be the genius who helped save America.
While Musk, Trump and others sounded the alarm, the ONLY REASON the CR was killed is due to CITIZENS contacting their representatives and raising hell over it.
If the people did not take action, Congress would have passed it.
I'm assuming she meant to type defund, not defend. If not, I do not remember the defend narrative at all, at least from the Democrat side. Our side was saying that, but not Democrats.
If you remember, just about every piece of legislation under Obama was marked “emergency” so it could be rammed through without debate or analysis.
That led to the CRs being done on an emergency basis as well.
WADR....Obunga never wanted to defend the police. He spread the notion to de-FUND the police. He’s lower than proverbial whale feces!
Make no mistake about it, the 'Obama-type' regime is not dead. Its ugly head will lift again and gullible Americans will once again go along.......

Yes, please.
The problem with Samuels’ thesis is that 74m people voted for Harris. These were the very NPR people like the Philly collar counties and Johnson county Ks who were most susceptible,, and they didn’t change their minds. The 77 m who voted for Trump were already in place in 2020 + a few disaffected blacks added on. The people who had the outside locus of control propagated by the regime are no doubt still in the thrall, they have no other; American exceptionalism, which they have rejected, will require Providence to reinstill.
Not to take away from your point, but Kamala didn’t get 74 million legitimate votes. 10-20 Million are likely manufactured. I think they know that game could be ending very soon as well.
If they can do 20 m, why not 24 m? I don’t doubt many 100’s of thousands in CA, etc
Yes. This part of the article is very overhyped:
“The master political strategist of his era [Obama] didn’t simply back a losing horse. Rather, the entire structure he had erected over more than a decade, and which was to have been his legacy, for good or ill, has collapsed entirely.”
It has not collapsed entirely. Destroying it will take at least a decade of concerted work by a MAGA run administration consciously and deliberately dismantling it, with the power of the executive to do so.
The parasites are deeply embedded in the administrative state, the passel of NGO’s that feed on it and contribute to it, the legacy media, and corporate America. They will not leave, or even surrender a little power and money back to the American people, graciously. It will be ugly, dishonest, well-financed, and will take years.
Nor was it just Obama’s work. This problem and the structure that supports it has been growing for decades and decades.
The essayist just notes the social media/DOJ portion of the structure that evolved recently. I am no Chomsky fan. But “manufactured consensus” has been a reality for a very long time — at least since WWII.
The essayist just notes the virulent form it took under Obama and post-Obama.
“Make no mistake about it, the ‘Obama-type’ regime is not dead. Its ugly head will lift again and gullible Americans will once again go along.......”
That’s right. That battle is never won
It’s a battle between those who look at this imperfect world and try to make the best of it a bit at a time using lessons learned through the millenia , and those who look at the same world see it full of injustices (inequalities) and want to blow up the status quo and replace it with some untested, delusional utopia.
In a nutshell, it’s a battle between conservatism and radicalism. And I firmly believe that those traits have a strong genetic component, which explains why humans have akways faught that battle and always will.
