Valdimir Putin faces army revolt as 'commanders refuse to send troops' to storm key river

Russian commanders are reportedly refusing to send their troops to join a planned offensive to storm the Dnipro river.

Putin's army is building up its forces on the left bank of the Dnipro river, as it prepares to force a crossing.

Intelligence reports suggest 2,000 assault troops have been assembled in the Kherson region, along with some 300 speedboats.

However, many senior officers believe the planned assault to be a suicidal mission and are reluctant to commit their troops and equipment to the fight, according to the ATESH partisan group.

In a post to their Telegram channel, they wrote: "Russian military commanders refuse to send their subordinates to assaults in the Kherson region.

"ATESH agents report growing tension in Russian units located in the occupied territory of the Kherson region.

"The situation is becoming increasingly alarming: military personnel note intensified preparations for the offensive.

"Commanders are constantly called to urgent meetings, after which they return late at night - pale and clearly alarmed.

"This increases nervousness in units where no one really understands what is happening.

"Meanwhile, the command continues to set suicidal goals, further undermining the morale of the personnel."

The partisans noted that Russian units in Crimea were destroying their boats in a desperate bid not to be sent to Kherson to join the assault.

Gotta wonder who the intended audience is for this drivel these days?

Maybe Lil Marco’s incoming staff at State...

In the end, Russia will have, either though peace settlements or a democratic vote by the people, Crimea and the Eastern Ukraine provinces that were mainly Russian speaking, which was the proposal advanced to both sides before the onset of hostilities.

Interesting that you use "mainly Russian speaking" to describe Donbas, hiding the fact that it has an ethnic Ukrainian majority. And no, Ukraine never agreed ceding Donbas to Russia, nor did the people vote for it. The referenda in 2014 were for autonomy within Ukraine, not independence or union with Russia. (I will not give any credence to the 2022 referenda conducted by the Russians.) And what about Kherson and Zaporizhzia, which have 80% Ukrainian majorities?

The Russification of Ukraine was a byproduct of Stalin’s political famines. The Ukrainians resent the Russians, especially the ones living in Ukraine and longing for the political, economic and cultural dominance they had under “Soviet” (iow Russian) rule.

Which is the same sentiment alive in the Balkans. Estonia is one third ethnic Russian. Before the Second World War it was more like 5%. They murdered the Estonian elites and moved in Russians, before the Nazis invaded.

“The last time your side was talking about an ‘insurrection’ against Putin, it was Prigozhin (Wagner) and his ‘insurrection’ in 2023 made the Jan 6th protesters look like an organized army.”

It came relatively close to success, but Prigozhin lost his nerve and did not want to initiate a bloodbath among Russians. For this, he was killed.

The idea this was less organized than Jan 6th is hypebole. January 6th had almost no organization; I was there.

Prigozhim advanced a long way, taking down military opposition as he went.

And so it begins... Vlad has outlived his shelf life and Trump’s election has likely emboldened Russia’s military to refuse Putin’s orders. They know that Putin’s days are now numbered one way or the other.

This article presents us once again with the age old moral dilemma of war especially as that dilemma confronts officers in command.

The first duty of an officer is to gain his objective, to fulfill his mission. Inevitably, waging war and winning battles cost lives and casualties. Indeed, the officer planning the mission is often apprised by the equivalent of insurance actuaries the expected number of dead so he can order up the required number of body bags.

Knowing that his order inevitably will kill some of his men, the commander must nevertheless accomplish his mission. The American army takes endless pains to substitute matériel for bodies. We indulge massive amounts of training. Our medical treatment of the wounded has never been equaled in the history of war and it clearly saves an astonishing number of lives. Yet…

Yet that commander if not a psychopath must be racked with guilt because he must somehow rationalize that the mission is more important than his men's lives. That is why officers have historically been required to be men of honor because their moral ordeal tests the limit of their temporal and spiritual decency and sanity.

The Soviet army historically has failed to create a culture in which officers are concerned with the welfare of their men, indeed, the culture of the Soviet army is one of brutality and indifference to the fate of their own enlisted personnel. Historically, the Soviet army sacrifices its soldiers with a profligacy that is shocking.

This is something that has to be addressed not from the top down but created from the bottom up. This is why cheating scandals, for example, at West Point are an existential threat to the Army. Our officers must simply be above reproach but humble in the daunting tensions of their profession.

“Prigozhim advanced a long way, taking down military opposition as he went.”

Yet he NEVER picked up any substantial support from Russia’s military. As far as I remember, Russia didn’t even engage him until he shot that aircraft down. It was a TOTAL JOKE, but feel to think what you want - after all, the Western Media claims that your Jan 6th Insurrection was FAR MORE SERIOUS than what happened back then in Russia.

That you call January 6 as an “Insurrection” and describe it as serious tells us all we need to know about your true colors.

"You only want Biden-approved news?"

Almost none of the mainstream media in the West is free. Americans are among the most heavily propagandized and unfree people in the world.

We've heard this for years.

Does no one believe Putin isn't aware of the way former Soviet organizations like NKVD and SMERSH were able to ensure that orders were carried out?

Future of warfare?

Ukrainian Khartiya unit had conducted fully robotised assault on the Russian positions near Lyptsi of Kharkiv region. Only unmanned ground and aerial combat vehicles used.

Russia is currently sending dozens upon dozens of drone attacks today.
