What happened to knowing how many votes you have before making idiots out of yourselves... on national TV.

This is all for show. I watched Newt this morning and his explanation makes sense.

DJT made an offer they couldn’t and won’t accept. If they do it’s a win for him.

In reality DJT doesn’t want it to pass. They passed so many regulations and in the last month, DJT doesn’t want the government to implement these regulations so it’s better that it stays shut.

Is this in reference to Kamala thinking she can be Governor of California?

She really thinks she can just do more of the same, throw money around, buy the office.

The kindest possible explanation is noting that the GOP is often referred to as the “Stupid Party”.

A “whip” only functions when a straight majority vote is needed, and you’re operating within your own party.

My understanding is that these funding bills require a 2/3 vote, and a House “whip” cant really work and count votes in the opposing party. So these votes have been mostly inconsequential because even if every Republican votes in favor of them, they still will fall far short of the 2/3rds they need for the bill to pass.

I don’t think this is accurate.

On Ted Cruz’s podcast today he said they needed 215(or something close to that) to pass. We were like 38 votes shy at 170-something.

They basically need all R’s except one or two to vote in a block to get it passed. But even if they do, the Senate would have to pass it and R’s don’t have the votes there.

I don’t see what is so hard about saying...”We tried to pass the exact same govt funding that we had for the past 6 months and the Dems decided they would rather shut the govt. down.”

The Republicans act like whooped dogs and are too afraid to do anything because the media might call them “mean”. That is why I call them the “Republican’ts”

Have we truly whipped the votes since Tom Delay was speaker?

I think they SHOULD make idiots of themselves on tv. Go on the record, whether you have the votes or not. I wanna know how each votes. And it’s fine if it takes them 50 rounds of votes to get there. That way you can deduce who got bought off.

My understanding is that the 2/3rds vote in the House is needed under House rules because these bills are being drafted outside the normal committee approval process. The GOP can circumvent the two-thirds requirement, but it requires some kind of procedural move that would take a day or two beyond the midnight deadline.

O.K. I hadn’t heard about the timing issue.

Agreed...totally stupid to vote unless you know you have the votes...unbelievable!

They already knew.
Some people said “We’ll be onboard” and lied.
Others are simply in it for the theater.
Question is, who’s going to get primaried first?
