>>I certainly hope that the new administration is going to pay some attention to this situation.

Melania Trump was debanked, and she was unable to help Barron open an account at that same lone-time bank. So I expect the Trump47 Administration *will* pay some attention to this issue.

It has been an issue for people with firearms-oriented businesses as well.

I know someone who works for a bank in anti-money laundering. There are very specific patterns of use of money and the quantities of it that they look for. However, that does include tracking EVERYONE, so for someone who prefers to use cash for a lot of things does come under suspicion.

It’s viewed as a good thing as it allegedly helps them prevent money laundering and catch human and drug traffickers.

Course, get rid of the illegals and much of the trafficking is dealt with.

I don’t know if there’s any other way of identifying and tracking money laundering. Stopping payouts to foreign interests would be a HUGE start. No more gifts or loans to third world tyrannies for the corrupt leaders to pocket while robbing the people for whom it is intended.

The Democrats couldn’t function without money laundering, so this is the same gambit of “create the problem to justify the laws you want” (complete with selective enforcement) they’ve always played.

I would think a $3 billion fine could cause a run on the bank.

TD Bank had roughly $7 billion in net profit in US Dollars in 2023.

It is a Canadian company, so all their financials are stated in Canadian Dollars.

It took me more than 5 minutes to track down their 2023 Financial Statement, which would make me nervous if I had money deposited in that bank.

Their stock peaked at $80 (NYSE) in 2022.

Trading at $51 as I write this - a four year low.

Wait a minute. Customers are being deprived of a serious piece of liberty — the ability to have bank accounts — at the demand of the government.

Oh, you just noticed?

People have been screaming about this for literally decades.

But you just noticed.

Ok. Welcome to the foxhole. The enemy is thataway.
