A couple from California were shot and killed by gunmen on Wednesday night in the western Mexican state of Michoacán, according to officials.
The attack happened in the city of Angamacutiro, about 230 miles west of Mexico City, according to officials in the Michoacán state attorney general’s office, The New York Times reports.
City officials identified the couple as Rafael Cardona Aguilera and Gloria Ambriz, residents of Northern California who were on vacation, according to state officials. The former’s sister is the wife of Angamacutiro’s current mayor, Hermes Pacheco, the Times reported, citing the town council.

Love the headline: CA couple... You know, visions of blonde-haired American couple. Seeing the names buried down in the article and who they are affiliated with, I question whether they were a legal couple from CA.
My wife couldn’t see her family. I’d prefer that not to happen, thanks. Believe it or not Mexicans aren’t all losers. And are partially responsible for trump winning in November.

Don’t vacation in Mexico. You want to look at Mexicans, you can always go vacation in one of the border towns of Texas or Arizona.

Illegals? Unlikely. They wouldn’t vacay in Mexico if they didn’t have US passports to get back in. They may have been down there for “business” as well as pleasure and their killing not so random. Just a guess.

One of my best friends is from Michoacan. It’s a dangerous place.
With her connections, I’m guessing it’s a little more than a a “vacationing couple”.

One of the first things the Trump State Department should do is Ban travel to a large number of Unsafe countries.
When they lose the spending of travelers the risk to Americans will be lessened !
There was a time when American citizens could travel to nearly any place in the world without fear, Joe Biden destroyed that.
As an Irish Catholic gringo, fluent in Spanish reading, writing, speaking, I have traveled, lived, even done archeology on Mexico and Central America. It still is an incredible place, with great potential. It is sad, but I have ceased traveling, visiting due to the complete breakdown of civilization.
