Most hated: So this is Christmas by Lenon. Quite possibly the worst Christmas song ever.

Heard she makes $3m a year on the song.

which song I despise more than any other the New Year’s Eve Auld Lang Syne song ! It is the most depressing sad song ever ever written. Every time I hear it, I think of capsizing ships.

Wonder what the Christmas version of the accordion favorite “Lady of Spain” is?

Even as a 7 yr old kid, I knew it was fake. Just a tape of random barking, spliced together with quiet background music.
Amplify as needed for doggie excitement.

A Christmas album by Barbra Streisand is kin to a Cooking Show by Jeffrey Dahmer.............

I do, however, enjoy some of the comedy songs.
Rush used to play Yogi Yorgenson's "I Yust Go Nuts at Christmas". I had the audio tape which included, "I'm gettin' Nuttin for Christmas" (I think the Stan Freiberg version).
Another worst song is Elton John's "Ho, Ho, Ho (Who'd want to be a turkey for Christmas?)". His "Step Into Christmas" is simply bad. "Ho, Ho, Ho" is cringeworthy.

Hate: Little Drummer Boy. I think it is because so many people have sung a version of it that it gets a disproportionate amount of air time on radio and online. I am parum-pum-pummed out by Thanksgiving.
Favorite: Either Adeste Fideles or O Come Emmanuel. I feel cheated at Christmas mass if only the English verses of O Come All Ye Faithful are sung.

My favorite version of this Christmas standard.
Silent Night--Paul Whiteman & His Orchestra (1928)

One of my favorites: "In the Bleak Midwinter" on the "Chris Squire's Swiss Choir" album... which is one of the better Christmas albums that is still largely unknown. Hats off to a FReeper who brought this unusual combination of traditional choral singing and art rock to my attention (bonus points for Steve Hackett's guitar on "I Saw Three Ships").
On the secular side, I despise(d) the lyrics and laughed out loud at the video, but the much-reviled "Last Christmas" (in its original long-playing form) was a well-crafted bit of pop. Chris Rea's "Driving Home for Christmas" is a low-key favorite of mine... though a bit sad now that there are so few of my family left. As mentioned earlier, Mariah Carey's original "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is still endearing in many ways.
To be honest, I really don't care much for most "Christmas music," maybe because I have heard it too much, heard it in too banal forms, or... or something.

I remember listening to Rush just before he signed off on what would be his last broadcast. I also remember tears streaming down my face as I listened.
Favorite: Sleigh Ride - The Ronettes (among MANY others)
Least Favorite: Christmas Shoes - Newsong (gag)
Least Favorite, Special Mention: Christmas At Ground Zero - Weird Al Yankovic.(especially since there seems to be an actual chance it could happen)

I also prefer the Latin versions of “Adeste Fidelis” and “Veni, Emmanuel.”
