“130(i)” here refers to that subsection of Title 10 of the U.S. Code (10 USC 130i), which covers current authorities for the “protection of certain facilities and assets from unmanned aircraft.”
Under 130i, the U.S. military has the authority to take “action” to defend against drones including with measures to “disrupt control of the unmanned aircraft system or unmanned aircraft, without prior consent, including by disabling the unmanned aircraft system or unmanned aircraft by intercepting, interfering, or causing interference with wire, oral, electronic, or radio communications used to control the unmanned aircraft system or unmanned aircraft” and the “use reasonable force to disable, damage, or destroy the unmanned aircraft system or unmanned aircraft.”

At the same time, the statute as it currently exists stipulates that “the Secretary of Defense shall coordinate with the Secretary of Transportation and the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration [FAA] before issuing any guidance or otherwise implementing this section if such guidance or implementation might affect aviation safety, civilian aviation and aerospace operations, aircraft airworthiness, or the use of airspace.”
There are notable caveats about the “covered facility or asset[s]” the law applies to, as well. A specific list provided in the statute is focused largely on top-tier national security sites and assets, including those related to nuclear deterrence, protecting the President and Vice President, the nation’s air and missile defense networks, and space launch activities. The U.S. military does also reserve its inherent right to act outside of this authority in self-defense.

However, it is curious that it was published on Halloween, way before the current saga.
The headline is a lie, it says right there that force may be used to destroy a drone.
The CIC has full and absolute authority to have a drone he deems as threatening shot down.
Orson Wells wept.
“Lasers, Microwaves, Missiles, Guns Not On The Table For Domestic Drone Defense”
IOW pretty much anything that might be effective.
If everyone stopped looking or even giving a crap, would the drones go away?
No doubt - but one main problem is they need to be ID’d before you can counter them.
Drones, especially military, have all kinds of bad materials and payloads, especially when they start birning. Dealing with a downed drone - even in remote areas - is problematic.
Can’t just shoot them down in residential areas.
Any invasion of CONUS can be stopped by any means necessary, says we the people.
Anybody with a brain knows these drones from hostile nations are assaulting our country full gangbusters before Trump gets in office. They know our nation is very vulnerable and our present president, his administration along with the pentagon,DOJ, FBI and CIA are so incredibly weak. They feel they have a tremendous opportunity and greenlight to do whatever they please without retaliation of our military responding. This has been the easiest invasion our enemies have ever had in our nation’s history! Infuriating, dangerous and scary! Also don’t forget that the cartel which is a billion+ crime organization have a lot of power and money supplied by our enemies. They have more to lose than the surrounding nations. Their golden goose is about to be snuffed out. Could also be they are also sending a message to President Trump not to mess around with them.
Goes without saying.
“Dealing with a downed drone - even in remote areas - is problematic.”
Cut me a break.
Shoot them down.
Then debate about it.
How about having the USAF hire a truant 9 year old with a pea shooter?
Have our F-35s been shot down or disabled by the UFOs?
Have F-35s even been deployed against these things that the federal government says are a concern?
Something does not add up.
My real question is: Why is the Biden regime so intent on destroying their last filament of respect by lying yet again on their way out the door. It doesn't make sense.
It's the sort of thing producers of a movie about "killer drones" would do to gin up publicity, using Elon-level technology.
I haven’t heard much of anything about that drone that crashed. Fire fighters were on scene and then poof, dropped from the news.
“War of the Worlds” radioplay was broadcast on 31OCT1938 that was set in Grover’s Mill, NJ. The movie with Tom Cruise was set in Bayonne, NJ.
Why? Because they cannot help themselves...lying is speaking their truth.
The media has done very poorly in their reports on drones. There are clearly drones in the sky that we do not know the origin of. However, any light in the sky they now say is a drone. Last night on the news they reported one that was clearly an aircraft on approach. It had its navigation lights on, red on the port side and green on the starboard side as per FAA rules and its landing lights on. When its strobe lights flashed you could see the glimmer of the wing. It was a jet coming in to land. How do I know it was a jet? The glimmer off the wing was swept, it was a jet. They describe some as being as big as a bus. Unless they know its altitude or have a known object to compare it too they really do not know the size of the drone. They are doing very poorly in their reporting.
