More New Yorkers were newly diagnosed with HIV in 2023 compared with 2022, but public officials say that doesn’t necessarily mean new diagnoses are on the rise after years of steady decline, according to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s (DOHMH) 2023 HIV Surveillance Annual Report.
In 2023, 1,686 people were newly diagnosed with HIV in New York City, up 7.6% from 2022.

Trouble is the drugs protect the immune system and hiv viral particles levels are too low to detect( doesn’t mean they’re completely gone) and the virus also attacks the brain, kidneys, heart, and many other tissues that act as reservoir for the body. If the anti-HIV drugs are not taken for a while the infection resumes it’s destructive activities. These facts are leading to patients taking effective meds having a false sense of being cured. Then the infected tissues start failing around age 55 or so. Some have said that for infected people, “60 is the new 80” cause diseases that used to show up at 80 are showing up at 60 years old.
For now, many think that “effing around” is completely safe..nope. we are talking about a whole subgroup of the worlds population dying early.

How do women contract it sexually?
Woman to woman transmission is virtually nil. So, they are contracting it from infected men.
How are these men contracting HIV?
Through either sex with other men (#1 transmission rate by far) or through illicit IV drug use.
How does the IV drug use vector get established?
By homosexuals using IV drugs, which is a VERY large part of that culture.
Again, EVERYTHING with HIV/AIDS tracks back to queer sex.
