Has little to do with woke- nursing jobs are desperately needed in many areas of this country as the number of nurses who retired far outnumbered those getting into the field.
Nursing is a good occupation for those who cannot qualify themselves as doctors.
Often tons of overtime as well. There are nurses who make over $200,000, because they take all the over time they can.
There are always jobs for nurses and the pay is very good. Yes long hours and hard work and difficult situations, but that’s why you earn the high pay.
I wish we celebrated nurses the way the Left celebrates teachers in our failed government schools.
What about “nursing assistants”? People be employed by long term care facilities to take care of the patients.
As long as they work on their pandemic dance skills.
My husband went into the army to be a truck driver. They gave him an ambulance "Oh, and if you want a promotion, you need to take medical classes...." He became a nurse and eventually a nursing instructor (where I met him at Fort Sam Houston).
Nursing needs muscle to handle patients who cannot transfer themselves from bed to chair, and many women are just not up to the strength needed. I’ve learned this from a loved one in assisted living. They need 3 female nursing aids to move my loved one when I can do it alone.
My Mother Mary Ann was an RN, a very good one. She worked for part of her career in the ER, she told me it was the best part of her career, no time to mourn or worry, just trying to save lives. She also worked part of her career in an elderly care facility, she would come home and weep sometimes. Joe died, not supposed to become attached, just doing a job, but it’s hard not to for a compassionate human being. My Mom is the reason why my daughter is a Medical Doctor today. Lot of personal stuff to write on a public forum.
They get to see women without their clothing.
Back in the 90’s I worked with a lady whose husband was a nurse & she said he always complained about getting stuck moving the overweight patients because the women struggled.
I have a brother-in-law who was nursing in the 80s and retired a few years ago. Men nursing is not a new thing. My son is in nursing school now.
Ive been a nurse 21 years, and retire in about 3 more....
Nursing is a great job for anyone with some smarts and a willingness to work.
Job security for the next 20+ years is a huge plus. Salary ain’t too bad either.
My neighbor across the way was a nurse. Her reliable job inspired her husband to study nursing, then their children followed their parents. Job security was the main reason for all of them, I believe.
My nephew joined the marines right out of high school. Big into TV, not into reading at all. But he came out and took a nursing degree. I’m pretty sure job security was highest on his list of reasons. Made the family really proud.
Being a male nurse is so much probably good way to meet female nurses. But then again why not just become a doctor?
Yeah... great fun, but the hospitals will make you take the covid and flu shot, and it’s still kinda gay.
My son has been an RN for 10 years. The drawback? All the damn women.
What do you want to bet that all the wacky woke woksters thought the headline was about males nursing new born babies with their own “milk.” If a “man” can give birth, why can’t “he” nurse an infant?
It seems like a key sentence is being missed in the posts:
“Many of the manufacturing jobs that are being moved overseas, replaced by automation or phased out of the American economy were mostly filled by men.”
If we don’t make goods to trade overseas the money for our vastly overpriced medical system will run out.
Due to a medical issue needing a Foley, my husband refers having a male nurse. The women, especially younger ones, do not get it.
