Patel’s Warm Senate Welcome Reflects the G.O.P.’s Turn Against the F.B.I.
The New York Times ^ | Dec. 12, 2024, 2:09 p.m. ET | Catie Edmondson

Kash Patel, President-elect Trump’s pick to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has called the top ranks of the bureau “a threat to the people” and published a list of enemies, vowing retribution for investigations of top Republicans.

He appears — at least for now — to be on a glide path for confirmation, with Republican senators lining up enthusiastically behind him.

As Mr. Patel made the rounds on Capitol Hill this week ahead of his confirmation hearing, he received almost universal praise from G.O.P. members, even those who had raised concerns about some of Mr. Trump’s other picks.

“Kash Patel is the real deal,” said Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina, one of the conference’s more moderate members. “President Trump campaigned on the promise to enforce our laws equally and fairly and restore the integrity of the F.B.I.”
Mr. Patel’s warm welcome is fueled in part by an eagerness among Republicans to avoid incurring the wrath of Mr. Trump and his base after a groundswell of anger at Senate pushback to his picks to lead the Pentagon and the Department of Justice, Pete Hegseth and Matt Gaetz.

But it also reflects the extent to which a deep distrust of the F.B.I. has become Republican orthodoxy. Following Mr. Trump’s lead, Republicans in Congress have emerged as the chief antagonists of the bureau, deriding it as an institution rotted by corruption and partisanship.

It is the culmination of a remarkable turnabout that has been years in the making for a party that traditionally had given unyielding support for the nation’s law enforcement agencies. In recent years, Republicans have attacked the F.B.I. for its role in investigating the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, including its handling of the so-called Steele dossier; accused officials there of failing to investigate issues...

I wonder why that would be?

We may never know.

Typical...”anti-F.B.I. stance is now party orthodoxy.”

No, it’s anti-CORRUPT FBI stance that is now afoot. It’s time to clean house down to the basement floor and scrub all that corruption away.

Plenty of time to hinder PDJT after 1/20/2025. Right rinos? Not much trust in “our” reps anymore.

When a bureaucracy involves itself in politics they can’t cry and whine when the tide of politics washes it away. The FBI took a partisan position with the losing side and now it has to pay the political consequence The FBI needs to be destroyed.

When you investigate the FBI, the CIA comes into view.

Right? What did the FBI do to earn such retribution? Did the FBI pick a political side and use all of its power to bolster one political party over the other? Why yes, yes it did. The FBI must be destroyed and its soldiers banished to the wastelands.

Patel is actually pro-FBI, the real FBI and real role it’s meant to play.

Like all totalitarians the Democrats and their media try and equate government and institutions with their regime.

Ergo being against their compromised corrupt politicized machinations within the FBI is being “anti-FBI.”

They use manipulations of language in this manner all the time.

Early WOKE crap is more like it - that creepy SPLC 'domestic terrorists' stuff needs to be pulled out and looked at: White middle class middle aged Christians who use the word 'Constitution' and become high priest by killing a cop'... Lies, ugly lies that brought down the integrity of a fomerly impressive police organization.

I remember when the New York Times was highly skeptical of the FBI, it’s mission, motives, and management.

I had a “Way Out There” idea yesterday as I was contemplating POTUS 47’s inauguration and the first 100 days of his administration:

Somehow, someway, convince the Senate to accept all of his nominees in one vote, on Day One!

After all, our President gets to select the people he wants to help him Make America Great Again!

Why shouldn’t EVERY Republican Senator afford President Trump that vote of confidence?

This is not his first rodeo, and he knows what needs to be done, and time’s a wasting!

I’m quite sure that he has thoroughly vetted each of them — he has had four years to plan his work and he should be allowed to work his plan!

FRom DAY ONE!

I want to see about 8 dozen EOs signed on the inauguration stage just to set the tone.

the FBI knew about Epstein, his island, the kids, and the people molesting/killing them... since 2005.

how many tens of thousands of kids were molested and killed under their gleeful gaze?

if they cannot protect kids in that situation...

if they cannot hold those people responsible...

then they are not a law enforcement agency and should be charged as accomplices.

Why not bringem all and readem all on the stage?

Rumor is that there are already 25 EOs ready, and we are still almost six weeks out. Plenty of time to write more and completely disestablish the Democrats!

“I remember when the New York Times was highly skeptical of the FBI, it’s mission, motives, and management.”

That was before they got control of it and were able to use it against their imagined enemies. No different than when the Left got control of the military.
