A Florida alligator has likely been living for years in excruciating pain due to a rusty trap stuck on its mouth, photos show. The grisly predicament was revealed in a Dec. 10 social media post by Bellowing Acres, an alligator sanctuary in North Florida’s Putnam County. “This morning we were contacted by (a trapper) about this nuisance alligator with a snare growing into his face!” wildlife rescuer Chris Gillette, owner of the sanctuary, wrote in a Facebook post. “It has obviously been there for a long time.”

Gator Ping!......................😣😥
And?
Awwww! Sedate and remove. Pamper as needed. 🤔🐊
Poor critter. ALL TRAPS SHOULD BE BANNED. Get a gun and do it RIGHT
I hate when any animal being made to suffer... Even a gator..............
Well, your season record is 7-5.
Beats 2-10.
😁.......................
I agree......50 years ago I was riding a logging trail on my trail bike in northern Michigan when I came across a skunk caught in a leg hold trap, with its leg mangled.
If I had a gun with me, I would have dispatched it. But since I didn't, I was able to carefully release it from the trap.
That incident has stayed with me all my life. Here in the suburbs of S.E. Michigan, I am continuously live trapping opossums and the occasional raccoon. But I dispatch them humanely with a .22 pellet rifle.
They’re looking for name suggestions ...I’m thinkiing, “Jed” ...the Clint Eastwood character w/the noose scar in “Hang ‘em High.”
I must say, this is the first time I remember feeling anything like compassion for an alligator.
Rusty.....................
Since we’re on the general topic, I have found a method to determine if an inland body of water in Florida has an alligator in it. I am nearby in GA and we are down there fairly frequently, so this is useful.
You approach the body of water, bend down, and splash at the water’s edge with your hand.
If the water is wet, there’s a gator in there.
.
I’ll let myself out . . . .
What part of Georgia?
I have relatives all over southern part.........
You are correct. Some people not aware of Florida may think you are kidding at their peril...
Gator
Lives
Matter
!!!
was it killed?
No. It was taken to an alligator sanctuary and it will be taken care of after they remove the cable...............
