Luigi Mangione 'considered BOMBING Manhattan and penned sick to-do list before shooting healthcare CEO'
Daily Mail UK ^ | December 11, 2024 | Melissa Koenig

Luigi Mangione allegedly considered bombing Manhattan as he planned out his attack on UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Mangione, 26, appeared in court on Tuesday, fighting against extradition to New York - where he is charged with second-degree murder after Thompson, 50, was slain.

The former Ivy League student had been apprehended at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania on Monday, when he was found with a 3D-printed pistol and black silencer, as well as a manifesto condemning the American healthcare system.

Mangione also had a spiral notebook in which he wrote a 'to-do list,' ahead of the grizzly shooting, CNN reported.

In it, he allegedly toyed with the idea of using a bomb to kill Thompson - but he decided against the prospect because it 'could kill innocents,' and determined a shooting would be more targeted.

He also reportedly mused that it couldn't get any better than 'to kill the CEO at his own bean-counting conference,' as Thompson was set to disclose the financial gains the company made this year.

Journalist Shimon Prokupecz reported that 'law enforcement and certainly investigators' will view that sentence as a 'confession.'

Why not first degree murder? He planned it in advance, then assassinated the guy.

Re: "he is charged with second-degree murder"

Yikes.

What does someone need to do to get charged with first-degree murder in New York City?

An admission like the one he put in the nitebook seems sufficient!

Surely the charges will be upgraded.

Somebody pointed out earlier there isn't much difference between 1st and 2nd degree murder in NY except for length of the sentence. 1st degree murder would be for killing a government official, witness, and etc..

Greg Kelly on Newmax last night suggested the CIA/MK Ultra may be behind Mangione’s actions, drawing a parallel with the Unabomber. Both were highly intelligent, Ivy League educated and Kelly thinks likely recruited and mind controled by the Agency. Both waged war against the capitalistic system. It seems like a theory that needs further examination.

I don’t understand the hate on health-care CEOs. They are merely the public face of, and operating within the rules of our vast, bloated, regulatory, welfare cost-shifting crony-capitalist leftist health-care system.

Our present system was created by Obama, Pelosi, Congress, FDA, and HHS

why not some hate for them?

With 1st degree murder you must prove intent to commit the murder. You don’t have to for 2nd degree murder. The defendant pointed a gun at the victim and pulled the trigger that killed him. He get’s the same time in jail.
It is also possible the the Federal DOJ could also prosecute him because the crime was related to interstate commerce and the sap crossed State lines to commit the murder.

In New York, first-degree murder requires one of a host of aggravating
circumstances. Those include killing someone who works in law enforcement,
killing a witness, killing for hire, killing while serving a long sentence and
killings involving torture. Both crimes are punishable by up to life in prison,
but first-degree murder has a longer minimum — 20 years, rather than 15.

“elementary social engineering,”

who did he practice social engineering on?

“Social engineering is a manipulation technique that exploits human error to gain private information, access, or valuables. It involves psychological manipulation to trick users into making security mistakes or giving away sensitive information.”

“ a 3D-printed pistol …”

Am I correct in assuming that only certain parts of the weapon were actually printed and the barrel and perhaps a few other parts were still made of metal? Just curious.

I’m not a lawyer, and I don’t play one on TV, but, if my memory is accurate, I remember from my business law class, fifty years ago, second degree murder contains intent. First degree contains intent, and premeditation. It seems to this unlawyerly mind, that this case is first degree. But, then we so far only know what the media is telling us.

“why not some hate for them?”

Because haters can’t think that far.
And they are mostly liberal and voted for all this.
But then complain when the consequences of their votes happen .

Just like most inflation could be traced back to Biden cancelling the oil pipeline on his first day in office. Very few see that connection .
