You are kidding? They had phones then and the extended warrantee guys were busy even then! That thing probably has had an extended warrantee this whole time!
Believe it or not, France was the world’s leader in automotive technology until the late 30’s. They were the first with rack and pinion steering, independent suspension, hydraulic shock absorbers and rear axle differentials.
That was quite fun to watch.
The modern configuration of using a steering wheel in front of the driver with a clutch, brake and throttle mounted on the floorboard (L-R) originated with Cadillac in 1916.
Before that it was free-form.

The Gilmore Museum in Kalamazoo offers vintage rides for members, the vehicles available vary. They used to have a Duesenberg, my guess is, these vintage vehicles are owned by participating volunteers.

At the end of WW2 only 3 nations had a significant automotive industry. The US, UK, and France. Citroen started making the 2CV in (I think) 1947 and made them until about 1990. The Germans resurrected their auto industry with the Volkswagen Beetle, The British built the Morris Minor. The VW was the worst design but due to labor problems in the UK and France Beetle was the more successful vehicle.
