He tells some hard truths about Toyota and HE’S a Toyota guy, owning 3 IIRC.
According to him Toyota went all in on the green initiatives because of biden and it killing the brand.
“”It’s the station wagon of the 21st century. 20th as well actually.””
AND by WOMEN who don’t even have family...is alone!
Station wagons made sense for families but ~~~~~~~~
When just that tailgate in an F150 costs 1650.00, you’re on the wrong track.
Scrap cars $315 a ton.
I won’t believe it until I see even more exclamation marks - maybe even a “Bombshell!”
“When just that tailgate in an F150 costs 1650.00, you’re on the wrong track.”
Yep, Price gouging. See #44
“panned with expensive features...”
In 2015 I bought my wife a German import....at purchase they strongly suggested we spend an hour with their “BMW genius” free of charge.
At the end of the hour what I heard was “this is all the features on your vehicle that if they break are gonna cost you money.”
Fortunately it’s been a really great car and we haven’t had the first problem with it.
On the question of SUV’s size is one reason but the extremely bad conditions of our roads is another.
With longer wheel travel there’s less of a chance the vehicle will be damaged when it hits a pothole.
I drive a sport sedan and have to always be careful not to damage the car. I have seen potholes two feet deep. There was another one near work that was the size of my car.
Bring back vehicles you can work on yourself and can afford to drive off the lot.
Never underestimate the power of the status symbol. 😏
the more people buy them the more other people feel the need to buy them because you are surrounded on all sides by taller vehicles on the road which is unnerving and blocks your view of the road
Clerk: [returns Austin’s personal effects after the reanimation process] One English-made Jaguar.
Austin: That’s not mine.
Clerk: One credit card receipt for English-made Jaguar, signed by Austin Powers.
Austin: I’m telling ya, baby, that’s not mine!
Clerk: One warranty card for English-made Jaguar, filled out by Austin Powers.
Austin: I don’t even know what this is! This sort of thing ain’t my bag, baby!
Clerk: One book: “English-made Jaguars and Me: (This Sort of Thing Is My Bag, Baby)”, by Austin Powers.
Austin: Ah.
Clerk: Just sign the form.
Austin: Okay, thank you, handy man. I’ll sign here, just to get things moving. [laughs] You know.
“Bring back vehicles you can work on yourself....”
Never gonna happen my friend.
The business model is to make ‘em so complex you have to take it somewhere for maintenance.
Look at tesla, you HAVE TO take it to them for anything but tires....most private repair shops won’t touch ‘em anyway.
hell, many junk yards refuse to take ‘em.
I've got a double cab truck. No interest in "status". I use the truck because it can haul up to 10,000 pounds behind me and because I regularly buy/carry 10-15 80 pound sacks of pelleted horse feed in the bed.
I also take the grandkids with us when we go camping.
Plus, it is our vacation vehicle. Once a year we load up the grandkids and take them with us from southern Arizona to northern Utah and back. The extra room inside the truck makes the trip far more enjoyable than using our 2012 XTerra - which was still a bit nicer than when we used our 2017 Camry.
Lots of folks probably buy double cab trucks because CARS WITH ROOM are banned by EPA gas mileage mandates!
A modern Camry is the size of an old Corolla. A modern van IS a mini-van. A family with 4 kids is now almost out of luck. Cars that hold 6 people are hard to find! Cars that hold 5? Well, pity the three in the back seat!
“Never underestimate the power of the status symbol.”
Bling...
A depreciating asset that is guaranteed to come with extreme repair costs. I wouldn’t buy one at this point unless it came with a 10 year bumper to bumper warranty that included ALL routine maintenance except tires.
They have to take the risk out.
Toyota has totally dropped the ball on Tacomas and Tundras. Bad engines and bad transmissions! I’ve driven Tacomas for 35 years. I wouldn’t buy a new one.

I’ll add my wife can sit in the back seat of our V-8 Tundra with 2 grandkids and play games with them while the dog is at their feet.
Apparently, we have so little oil remaining - and the earth is about to burn up, you know! - that cars for FAMILIES are now borderline illegal. ;>(
My Tundra was 45K new. Looks like the new F-150s can be bought for about that, although I just don’t trust double turbocharged V-6 engines the way I do Toyota’s old, big V8!

Okay, interesting. I knew Honda had some quality problems recently but hadn’t heard about Toyota.
