Reports it took over $6 Billion in profit out of healthcare for Wall Street in Q3 2024 release. Trump’s Project 2025 would DOUBLE UnitedHealth’s privatized Medicare revenue and profit.
Due to Trump’s Project 2025 implementation
- The number of people denied care by UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Advantage plans would jump to 5.2 million people annually.
- UnitedHealthcare would likely take in $274 billion annually from privatized Medicare alone.
- UnitedHealth Group, the parent company of UnitedHealthcare, would likely gain more revenue and profit due to Project 2025 implementation than any other health corporation.
Summary: UnitedHealth would be one of the largest financial beneficiaries of Project 2025, since it is the largest private health insurance corporation in America, the 4th largest company in the country, and the largest writer of privatized Medicare Advantage plans, with 7.8 million people insured through a UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plan. Because of UnitedHealth’s massive scale, the harm it causes through its denials of care is unprecedented – whether through prior authorization denials, claim denials, and inadequate networks that prevent beneficiaries from receiving care or increase the financial strain of receiving care. UnitedHealth would be empowered by Trump’s Project 2025 to harm more Americans than virtually any other private corporation, other than fossil fuel companies, that benefits from his plan.
Trump’s Project 2025 lays the groundwork for the eventual complete privatization of Medicare: it plans to “Make Medicare Advantage the default enrollment option,” despite the fact that privatized Medicare costs the public more than traditional public Medicare.
Under this plan, people who are sick or injured will stay sick longer, even dying while UnitedHealthcare and other privatized Medicare plans delay or deny their treatment. Millions more people who get the treatment they need will be wrongly stuck with bills that force them to choose between rent or medicine and debt collectors.

Uh, yeah I’m sure they’d make WAYYYYYY less with Kamala in office.
I’m also told Trump’s Project 2025 will require bags of potato chips to be filled with 80% chips rather than 80% air!!!
Good find.
Any organization with “peoples” and “action” in its name is obviously communist, anarchist or worse.
“United Health is heavily promoted by and joined at the hip with AARP”
I didn’t know that. Thanks.
There was a post yesterday about AARP’s $9 sale and the replies were exactly what you’d expect on FR.

Richard Cole, and others v. UnitedHealthcare
On April 29, 2019, Judge Robert N. Scola Jr. of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, a cancer survivor, recused himself from a case against UnitedHealthcare, stating that the company’s denial of treatment was “immoral and barbaric”, and that his opinions regarding the company would prevent him from “deciding this case fairly and impartially.”
CMS fine over Medicare Part D
In 2017, CMS fined UnitedHealthcare $2.5 million after discovering issues in Medicare Part D leading to delays or denials in a 2016 audit.
Change Healthcare acquisition
In February 2022, the United States Department of Justice sued to stop UnitedHealth Group’s $8 billion acquisition of Change Healthcare, arguing that the deal would give UnitedHealth access to its competitors’ data and ultimately push up healthcare costs. The Justice Department said that UnitedHealth knew that access to claims would give it a view into rival health plans at Humana, Anthem Inc, CVS Health, Aetna, and Cigna.[132] A U.S. judge rejected the department’s bid in September. Following the completion of the acquisition in October 2022, the parties agreed that the appeal would be voluntarily dismissed, with no reasons provided by the Justice Department for dropping the appeal.
A study by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that in 2021, Medicare Advantage programs provided insurers with double the gross margin than insurance for individuals, groups, or Medicaid Managed Care.
In July 2024, the Wall Street Journal concluded that UnitedHealth was the worst offender among private insurers who made dubious diagnoses in their clients in order to trigger large payments from the government’s Medicare Advantage program. The patients often did not receive any treatment for those insurer-added diagnoses. The report, based on Medicare data obtained from the federal government under a research agreement, calculated that diagnoses added by UnitedHealth for diseases patients had never been treated for had yielded $8.7 billion in payments to the company in 2021 – over half of its net income of $17 billion for that year.
