If the guy is an illegal then they may be pretty hard to find. Especially if they can leave the country the way they came in.
The pistol, the unusual $300.00 daypack, the coffee shop, the shell labeling and clues at the murder scene, the travel and overnight stay, the clothing, there is so much information of an unexpected nature that it is puzzling what it all means, is it as clumsy and strange as it appears or is some of it deliberate misdirection?
It will be interesting to learn the facts of this.

Anything is possible. I don’t think a professional would have taken his mask off for a picture in the hostel. That alone was a big mistake. They tracked him from a Greyhound bus to the hostel. How long before they track him back to his house? Who did he call from that phone before the shooting? I would be surprised if they don’t already know his identity. I guess we will find out soon enough. NYC isn’t the best location to pull off something like this. If he didn’t want to get caught he would have done it in a more secluded area. I don’t think a professional would have chosen such a populated area with cameras all over the place.

How long have they been separated and why? An affair or what and who? One of them buys a home right down the street for her - ok, maybe for the sons but still. One son is an adult and the other will be in a couple years so how big is this place? Who’s name is on the house? Were they planning a divorce or was it just not living in the same house? She could have at least acted distraught so smells like a very expensive divorce was on the horizon. Ya know, if I was so angry as to hire a hitman, I’d be happy to wash my hands of him at the lawyer’s office with a few million in his second offer because you can only spend so much in a lifetime. Done and done asap. Why have even a whisper of suspicion on me but that’s just me.
The sons would get the most in the end so maybe the wife isn’t a suspect.
I don't think this guy can afford a $2,000 pistol. If it is, then it's likely registered to the shooter as is the suppressor.
It wouldn't be too difficult for the Feds to research the BATF files to find out who owns that type of firearm then find out how many of those owners have registered suppressors.
That narrows down the search tremendously.
As for the suppressor, I have no idea how a person could go about finding and buying one illegally since they are all registered with the government.
While spousal murder can have money involved—at the end of the day it is very very personal—filled with emotion (hate) and often revenge for wrongs done.
You cannot reason your way through that.
That is why I was amused by comments some folks made like “violence solves nothing”.
Violence is usually not a rational response—it is an emotional one.
Humans are not computers.
I ride Amtrak from DC to NYC quite often and I cannot remember ever having to show an ID, either when buying the ticket or boarding.
They may want to hold off identifying the perp until he attempts to cross an international border, when they could presumably arrest him.
That Hilton hotel has an adjoining Starbucks. Is that Starbucks the one that the perp patronized? Which exit was the victim near when he got shot?
Fair enough; I am far from an expert on the subject, just simply relaying what I know with what I’ve read.
If it is, then it’s a pretty expensive one (over $2K). The pistol cited is a wiped silencer that needs to be repacked after so many rounds shot.
He has had more than enough time to leave the country and land in some non-extradition country like Obama’s choice of Dubai.
