The Good Book is the world’s most widely distributed book. It is also the world’s best seller. And now sales of the Judeo-Christian Scriptures are rising.
The Wall Street Journal reports on this recent up-tick in sales. The headline declares: “Sales of Bibles Are Booming, Fueled by First-Time Buyers and New Versions.” And the subtitle notes: “Publishers attribute a 22% jump in Bible sales this year to rising anxiety, a search for hope, or highly focused marketing and designs.”

Good.
Which “Bible,” though?
There are some horrid versions out there. So horrid that they pervert the Word of God.
Sorry to be a wet blanket, but that is the reality.
Wow.
amen
All the modern English language Bibles use the corrupt Critical Text as the basis for the New Testament, and all of them are missing many words and passages.
The NIV, as an example, should be called the “New Incomplete Version,” because that’s effectively what it is. A friend of mine likes to call it the “Nearly Inspired Version,” but then he uses the NASB which has the same underlying issue.
💯.
Yes, amen 🙏🏻!
My thoughts exactly.
We can only hope that with the increased uptake of Bibles in society, some good, older translations are increasing with it.
I checked recently, and noticed that the King James Version is still available in print and online. :)
Yep, they are all buying “The Message”, lol. Just kidding, when I look to see what’s popular the ESV in various formats is the most popular trending on Amazon. I’ve been praying for a revival kicked off by DJT winning. 🙏
I call it "The Massage," because it tickles them where they like to feel it.
God, sometimes sends imperfect men (Nov 5, 2024) to boost morality...
I just bought a KJV Bible for my parents, as I recently discovered they didn’t have one. Intolerable!
In our house we have many Bibles, several versions, Apocryphal books, etc., but we have multiple KJVs, some to give away.
I mainly keep the modern versions around for comparison purposes. One of the worst I’ve seen is the RSV. Talk about watered down! It has a “prophesy” that a young woman will be with child. Like that’s never happened before!
I used a KJV that I have notes in until it fell apart, the binding separated, releasing pages. Is there a method to repair this? Sounds like an internet craft search project is in order.
Problem is there are so many false Bibles out there for sale. Remember the Queen James Bible? The Reader’s Digest Bible, Joseph Smith’s (LDS) bible with fabrications? New World Translation of the JW’s? Various cults have had the bible changed to say what they teach.
I use a KJV, NAB Catholic, NASB and NIV.
Revival is happening in America.
The original RSV also left out the last verses of Mark 16. They have now added it with footnotes. The RSV is a translation of the Alexandrian texts while the KJV is the Greek texts of Constantinople. Most of the Alexandrian texts do not have the last verses of Mark, however, one text does have an empty space in 16 as if the writer knew there were more to later be added.
Eewie, but sounds right. I know it was “written” for kids, but it is actually a complete disaster and more embarrassing for kids in the delicate areas. KJV was second best selling this month on Amazon.
Good to hear.
