The liberal line on President Biden's pardon of his son Hunter was clear: The Devil Donald Trump made him do it! On Tuesday's CNN This Morning, former Biden communications director Kate Bedingfield said that Biden's pardon on Hunter was "totally defensible,"given Trump's alleged plans to go after opponents in the new administration.
As she put it:
Biden was responding to what Donald Trump himself and his appointees like Kash Patel have said about how they intend to use the Justice Department.
Bedingfield expressed understanding of why Democrats were frustrated that Biden was not more "forthcoming" about his plans, and she wished that Biden had expressed his "ambiguity" over his intentions about a pardon differently.
There was absolutely nothing ambiguous about what Biden said. In the most unambiguous terms possible, Biden flat-out lied through his teeth, repeatedly saying, and ordering his mouthpieces to say, that he definitely would not pardon Hunter.
The New York Times had adopted a similar blame-Trump line.

I suspect Trump would have offered Hunter a pardon. But Joe didn’t want just a pardon for the tax and gun convictions. He needed a BLANKET pardon to make sure Hunter wouldn’t face charges for bribery, money laundering and influence peddling in China, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine. Such charges could bring down the entire Biden organization.
How many of them will get broadly-worded pardons, as did Hunter?
The more they are inclined to believe they’ll be pursued and prosecuted during the upcoming Trump administration, the more they’ll be begging Biden to wipe their slates clean with respective pardons of their own.
Oh yeah, keep on blaming Trump for just about every stupid thing you’ve done over the past forty years or so ....

So they are against meritorious prosecutions, those unlike that they have foisted upon true patriots including the past president who happens to be preparing to rain on their parade during his long overdue second term.
Trump is the liberal’s Boogeyman.
Let’s not forget that if it wasn’t for a few brave IRS whistleblowers and a skeptical Federal judge in Delaware, Hunter would have skated on all these charges a year ago. There needs to be a thorough investigation into who at DOJ greenlighted the sweetheart deal that Hunter was originally offered and who hampered Weiss’s investigation. Those people should go to prison.
