SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an “emergency martial law,” Tuesday accusing the country’s opposition of controlling the parliament, sympathizing with North Korea and paralyzing the government with anti-state activities.
Yoon made the announcement in a televised briefing, vowing to “eradicate pro-North Korean forces and protect the constitutional democratic order.”
It wasn’t immediately clear how Yoon’s step would affect the country’s governance and democracy. The move drew immediate opposition from politicians, including the leader of his own conservative party, Han Dong-hoon, who called the decision “wrong” and vowed to “stop it with the people.” Opposition leader Lee Jae-myung, who narrowly lost to Yoon in the 2022 presidential election, called Yoon’s announcement “illegal and unconstitutional.”

I hope and pray President Trump will do the same thing when he takes over the Presidency from the corrupt Biden. I wish Trump would declare marital law, imprison the Democrat, FBI and CIA leadership plus the Republican RINOs, along with the Democrat propaganda press/media. I don't expect Trump to do this, after all, he allowed BLM and Antifa to riot and burn with impunity in 2020, so I expect him to work within the system, but I wish he would get serious and purge the USA of the progressive enemy. After all, Abraham Lincoln declared martial law and suspended habeous corpus in 1861, so it has been done before.

I am not up to speed on South Korean politics. From what little I know it’s complicated. Can some Freeper who knows more give us a brief rundown?

If Trump did the same thing, I’d support use of force to put him down. You don’t get to declare yourself the only person allowed to rule!

Not that complicated. imagine US POTUS trying to get rid of the Dept of Education or IRS and is obstructed by all Dems and RINOS. Or to try to get rid of the Deep State. So some squish in the same party will say "wrong".
Except it's even worse over there with the liberals actually much closer to destroying the country. I'm not sure given our situation here in the U.S, why you seem to have trouble understanding that some in his party call it "wrong" and why that's not really significant. It's actually the best thing I've seen President Yoon to have done since he came to power. I didn't think he had it in him.
