An Ohio woman who ate a cat in a viral video that fueled rumors of Haitian migrants eating pets was sentenced to one year in prison on Monday, as a judge hit out at her for the gruesome act.
Allexis Ferrell, 27, was arrested at a housing complex in Canton on August 16, when she was caught on police body camera footage crouching on all fours and biting into a cat.
Police later determined that Ferrell had smashed the cat's head with her foot and then began to eat it, according to a police report obtained by the Canton Repository.
'I did observe blood on Allexis' feet, hands and fur on her lips,' an officer who responded to the scene wrote in the report.
Ferrell, a mother-of-three, was indicted on charges of cruelty to companion animals in August, Fox 8 reports.
She initially pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, but changed her plea on Monday after a psychological report determined that she was able to understand court proceedings and assist in her own defense.
Yet the report also determined that Ferrell is irritable, aggressive, deceitful, lacks remorse, shows a reckless disregard for the safety of others and fails to conform to social norms with respect to law-abiding behavior by repeatedly performing criminal acts, according to the Repository.
'To me, you represent quite a danger to your community,' Stark County Common Pleas Judge Frank Forchione told Ferrell at the sentencing hearing on Monday.
'This is repulsive to me,' he continued. 'I mean that anyone would do this to an animal.
'And an animal's like a child. I don't know if you understand that or not.

Uh, no they are not. We need to quit pretending they are.

However, animals are not nor should they be considered as people. Even if many of them are better than people.

Having a claim to fame like that should make her life worth losing.
If she was high on something I’d understand a little more but there’s no mention of drugs. Maybe she’s part coyote? There is no excuse. No way to take even a little ugliness off this. Give her few years behind bars and then open an insane asylum in the middle of nowhere for her. Never let her loose in society.

Animals are not human children. For one, we eat dead animals but we never eat dead humans. Additionally, God gave us dominion over animals.
Anyone equating an animal to a human child is sick in the head.
