Many of us want to believe that, in the face of severe adversity and risk, we would try to prove worthy of a memorable legacy. Indeed, should circumstances ever turn sour, we hope to fancy ourselves as brave, courageous, and willing to stand firm no matter the cost. And yet, for the vast majority of those who have not been severely challenged in such ways, how could we know for sure the way we would react? This is why examples of people who did stand firm in the midst of trial are not just important, but necessary.

That’s pretty much everyone.
It can be very difficult to stand up to extreme evil.
The number of good people who do is usually dwarfed by those joining, supporting, enabling, financing, defending, or just ignoring the evil. Witness the Fakestinian terrorist murder gangs like Hezballah, PLO- PA, Hamas, communist China, Iran today.
Watching communists and Nazis run free riot on American campuses, blocking major arterials, and disrupting the Thanksgiving Day parade — the tip of the iceberg their evil natures bode for America
I read all about his history and writings when I was going through a full head on assault from Satan....It gave me strength.
He Choose Wisely.
I saw this last weekend. The best movie I’ve seen in years.
Many did stand up to evil. They were imprisoned then executed.
Read the biography by Mataxis. I have not seen the film yet but I think it may sensasationilze the assassination plot and over emphasize his role in it.
Bonhoeffers efforts were much more efforted towards uniting the church in opposition and saving lives.
I stood up to evil when I refused to jab when my employment was threatened.
“”Read the biography by Mataxis.””
I was trying to remember who wrote the book I read years ago about Bonhoeffer. That was Metaxis. Googled the movie and there are some not favorable reviews...some in every crowd!!
Will probably not get to see the movie but glad it’s been made.
Bonhoeffer had been increasingly pushing his fellow Evangelical pastors to resist the Nazis in the conviction that it would soon be too late to do so. Per Mataxis, Bonhoeffer had reached the conclusion as early as 1935 that it was too late. The Reichkirche that Hitler encouraged was irretrievably under the control of the State.
I saw it last week-end and was bit disappointed. It didn’t show that he was engaged 3 months before he was killed. It didn’t show that another brother also died along with two brother in laws. Lot was left out of the movie.
The wife and I saw it last Friday. She loved it, but I smelled more than a whiff of “Trump is just like Hitler.”
The theater also ran a bunch of trailers for upcoming Angel Studios releases.
I don’t think Angel Studios is the angel they pretend to be.
We saw it yesterday. They did a great job of putting the gospel in without making it feel preachy or contrived. There were several places where they creatively stretched history quite enthusiastically, though.
I have to admit I was pretty bored a lot of the time, but that’s true for me with lots of movies.
