And years later Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederate States of America, made the first national Proclamation of Thanksgiving in 1861.

Two years later President Abraham Lincoln, bowing to political pressure, copied this move.

Happy Thanksgiving eveeryone!

I miss El-Rushbo! This timeless Thanksgiving piece is priceless. I know Rush is looking down and smiling about the magnificent 2024 election. We couldn’t do it without the spirit of Rush who had President Trump on the show countless times in the past. God bless America!

Never heard Rushes story.
Really didnt need to since me and my family are direct descendants of Edward Winslow.

In short, after the establishment of the settlement, and after losing about half of the original, they managed to survive and held what amounted to a feast. The indians brought what they could and they ate wild game and fishes for the meal. There were no pies, only puddings of mush etc.
If it were not for the indians, the whole of the exercise might have collapsed.
Trade had been established with the natives in that area some time before by the fishing concerns who fished the area

I want to hear Limbaugh's father's tribute or memorial to the Founding Fathers but I can't find it. Does anyone have a source?

The bigger lesson here is that when Plymouth was a commune and folks were expected to work the fields for the benefit of the commune, they starved, but once the families were allowed to keep their own plot of land(private property) they had food in surplus as to trade.
