I don’t have a thyroid and use levothyroxine daily.
With this news I’m stopping it immediately. I’d rather go slowly into a coma and die than have bone loss.
Let’s not rush into things here!
The bone loss is probably very slow.
Well I am on it too...I question why so many of us are on it...what happens if our thyroid is low..
DONT do that check with your doc there may be something else that can be done

I have been on levothyroxin for about 7 years. Around that time I started getting back ache regularly. Fifteen years earlier I was getting back ache and started taking 3 mg. a day boron. Pain gone but recurred again so started taking 3 mg. boron morning and evening. Last year at annual physical suggested possible stopping of levo, but after testing said to continue. He also recommended bone density test. Perhaps he was reacting to this new danger info. I apparently have not shrunk much since I upped my boron use 7 years ago, but with some back pain again, I may add another 3 mg. per day to the 6 I am already taking. I am also careful to maintain my 2 to 1 ratio of taking calcium and magnesium supplements. Occasional leg cramps warn me if I am not taking enough.
Hubby has been on levothyroxine daily for at least 30 years. It was affecting his bone density. For about the last 5 years, he has gone overboard on adding food high in calcium daily. Mostly a bowl of dairy stuff (which is gross IMO). His last scan showed that his density had improved a bit.
