No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
I see. I was thinking about any word you know won’t be right but can give you information.
I recently used a word with 2 double letters to just figure out where the letters belonged. It was painful because I only learned about one unknown letter (wasn’t in the solution) but knowing where those other 2 belonged helped a lot.
Good morning. Happy Friday!
DON’T RUB IT!!!!!
I forget that 5 of his 6 ends are pointy when he lays like that - Calvin of Calvin ‘n’ Hobbes.
We had a quiet evening yesterday. It’s still cool which is very enjoyable.
One of the attendees at the on-line Bible Study last night mentioned an old, abusive flame had started texting her again. Young ArGee has shared that this is happening a lot with her friends. The social poison of our time is hard to bear sometimes. You can go all the way back to the Moral Majority of the 80s and say, “We told you so.” Now it’s time for the Church to figure out how to undo it before God takes care of it His way.
On a more earthly front, there’s today’s Wordle.

Good Friday Morning!
Drove through some HEAVY T-storms on the way home from my weekly errands... could barely see creeping along at 30 mph... haven’t been out in anything like that in quite some time...
Today’s came fairly quickly, but I thought that it was silly...

I thought of that one too, but “silly” had already won.
😉
I had another questionable word accepted on row 2.... I am beginning to think that there are few objective constraints on the word list...
Happy Friday ya’all!

Ya sort of wonder what that little tube is for. Where's it leading?
Looks uncomfortably like me chasing my kids through the playground equipment ten years ago...
Especially for the little kitteh in the front wondering what happens when the big kitteh gives a push.
Good morning. Happy Monday!
We had a quiet weekend. Sunday marked 8 months since The Princess has had a seizure. But she spit up a little bit at 5:15 this morning so there’s still something going on with her GI tract. Her next visit to the vet to check her liver function is in September. I hope her liver is still doing well.
We decided to at least price trailer hitches so I’ll do some of that today.
Weekend Wordling was pretty good. Here’s today’s effort.

It was a nice weekend... relaxing for the most part, but still got some stuff done...
So-so Wordling from the weekend continues...

Happy Monday... Weird... I feel like I just said that last week.
Got a long ride in on Saturday... about 6 hours up to Duluth, found some nice winding roads to cruise around. Sunday, got some work done out in the garden, put the first gloss coat on the gas tank of the Honda I’m rebuilding, and in general just got stuff done around the house that I’ve been putting off.

I’ll be glad to have a house to get stuff done around again.
Soon.
I finally broke down and bought a new chainsaw. My electric just wasn’t, ahem, cutting it for me any more.
Still trying to find parts for my Grandfather’s old Homelite. The thing is probably 50 or 60 years old, but I can’t find a replacement chain/bar for it and I need a new spark arrestor/muffler for it. Other than that, the motor still years great. I’ve rebuilt the carb on it and the cylinder bore is chrome lined... It’ll most likely outlive the human race at this point...
Picked up a 20” Echo 590. It’s kind of a beast... but handles oak like a dream.
After my last trip to the emergency clinic where I tried to give myself 11 fingers on my left hand with a hedge trimmer, Mrs. ArGee gets the willies every time I talk about power equipment. I tried to tell her a man hasn’t lived without a few scars. She hasn’t bought it, yet.
Not that I don’t already have plenty.
Hello, everyone. It’s Monday here, too!
