Good afternoon all. I recently dusted off a Roku device I had boxed away. I bought it several months ago, never got much use out of it, and I boxed it away.
I decided to dust it off and plug it back up, but I realized I need to find some good streaming services to watch. I'm looking for suggestions; movies, TV shows, news, religion, all are welcome. Of course I'd like as many free streaming channels as possible!
I appreciate your time, and suggestions!
I use plex media server
Any suggestions?
I’ve found this website very useful in pricing out what streaming platform provides what channels/content.

You Tube TV, Prime are two of the best. I cancelled Hulu/Disney/ESPN+ as Hulu no longer has anything different and the reason I purchased ESPN+ was to get the early airing of the PGA tour, which I no longer care for because all the good players went to the LIV :)
Got Starz for 6 months to watch the remaining season of Outlander.
Prime has gotten much better. Roku channel and Tubi are good and free too. The commercials are few and far between most of the time.
I use YouTube TV. It’s a little pricy but the sports and unlimited recording is great. I’m really spoiled by that.
$150/mth is about right for High speed internet and good TV choices. It's better than the $320/mth that Spectrum charges.
A Roku device comes bundled with the “Roku Channel” which is actually a whole bunch of live channels and on demand movies and shows for free.
Also Pluto, Xumo and Tubi are free similar services though there is a lot of duplication.
I dont boycott based on ownership
If I can get a deal and they have shows I like I will subscribe.
I want to watch Always Sunny in Philadelphia and didnt get around to it with the last year of .99 a month black friday deal
Amazon Prime is the best money I’ve spent. Steaming is great and to get most anything delivered to my door in 2 days is priceless.
many libraries also give a Hoopla and Kanopy subscription
well, if you buy lots of stuff from amazon, it’s worth paying for prime for the shipping, and you automatically get free prime streaming with that too, though lots of what amazon has is still pay per view ...
you could always get britbox, and watch the OLD [non-woke] shows that are good and then dump it, though some of the best stuff has been sold off to other streamers ... max (hbo) is another you can get for a while and then dump when used up, and hbo does have quite a few OLD [non-woke] high quality shows ... if you DO get britbox or max, get them through amazon: price is the same, quality is excellent because amazon hosts them on AWS, and management for getting and dumping is super easy on amazon vs having to have individual accounts on britbox and max ...
also, if your roku is really old, it might be balky: we finally had to upgrade our old roku 3 to the latest and greatest to solve the balkiness ...
btw, we’re thinking of temporarily getting hulu just to rewatch “Justified” ... we tried AcornTV to rewatch “midsomer murders”, but Acorn has THE worst quality because they totally cheaped out on bandwidth ... we gave up after only a couple of days because the quality was unwatchable ...
“My problem has been getting FNC.”
Does it have to be FNC?
Pluto, for example, carries Newsmax TV, Blaze Live, Real America’s Voice, OAN Plus and The F1rst for free
If you have a newer tv just connect it to your wifi and it should have a bunch of free TV on it. As said tubi is on.
Pluto and FreeVee
Also YouTube and Rumble
I do britbox whenever it goes on sale but you can get a lot of the shows via other means.
Prime has Bergerac,Sandbaggers, Black Adder, Mr Bean etc.
You can get others on Hoopla and Kanopy.
I watch Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren on Youtube.
Now that it has gone back on Sale I am continuing with One Foot in Grave and Are you being served.
I know Brits love Only Fools and Horses and I do watch it but I can’t get into it. Rodney is now on Frasier.
Amazon Prime has a lot of history documentaries. If you liked the History Chanel before it became mainly about either a pawn shop or junk pile gathering, and if you especially liked history documentaries before they became totally about identity politics, then you’ll like the documentaries on Prime.
if anyone likes Judi Dench she is on As time Goes By series on Britbox. I have enjoyed watching her acting circles around the supporting cast members.
too bad
I get it. If you boycott everything that has connections to the left you would have watch nothing but Portuguese cooking shows.
