On CNN This Morning, CNN senior political analyst Mark Preston warned that under Trump's proposed tariff increase on China, "when you go to Walmart, you're not going to get something for like $3.99. It's going to be $13.99."
That's a 250% price increase! Trump has proposed increasing existing tariffs on Chinese goods by only 10%. So Mark, where's the additional 240% coming from? CNN correspondent Jeff Zeleny agreed with Preston's absurd scaremongering: "Exactly."

“For me, Costco and Sams Club are TWO hrs away - no matter which on I go to. I wish they would build closer.”
For me, Costco is 2 minutes from my front door. A dangerous situation indeed :).
“Make it in the USA.”
That’s the goal of the tariffs, but the manufacturing jobs now done by the Chinese and others aren’t high paying jobs, so we’ll end up with more jobs for Americans, but will they offer satisfactory paychecks, and benefits, etc.
Partially compensating for this is the fact that the pay for the now-domestic manufacturing will stay in America. It will circulate within America rather than disappearing overseas.
As it is now, we get junk and they accumulate dollars which in effect puts us in debt to them.
😁
The TV dude is a lying moron, that’s how.
Were tariffs really successful during Trump’s first term? Farmers got a bailout of over $30 billion in a single year and 245,000 manufacturing jobs were eliminated.
CNN says what?
Bawahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Laughable BS. Wally will simply source more goods from places other than China. Duh.
Don’t tell me you believe in those outmoded laws of supply and demand? My liberal economics professor assured us those were just false constructs by greedy capitalists! :-)
It took 40 years for Free Traitors™ to f up the USA’s industrial base so it’s going to take time to get things right again.
That’s a 250% price increase! Trump has proposed increasing existing tariffs.
And Biden’s overall inflation was we can deal with it.
The cheap cat litter that I buy at Walmart is from China. Is there an American company of CHEAP cat litter?
How would China eat the tariffs? Do you mean they would lower their prices?
They will reduce the mark up (eat it) and profit margin to hold prices steady.
How much are the illegal immigrants costing by driving up demand?
How much is government inflation costing us by diluting purchasing power with printed money to hand out?
You're right, the New York Times ain't cheap.
Didn’t Trump put a tariff on some Chinese imports during his first term and did that raise prices?
So that would give America an opportunity to put Americans back to work instead of chasing the buffalo around Yellowstone or watching Da View from da Zoo all day long.
If Walmart can’t learn to diversify their supply sources, then they deserve to go under. China is NOT the only country on the planet capable of manufacturing.
CNN underestimates Walmart’s power to get what it needs at the prices that it wants.
