The Dawn of the Age of Kinetic Weaponry
X ^ | HealthRanger

So far, almost nobody in the west fully comprehends the Oreshnik weapon system just demonstrated by Russia. Hat tip to Ted Postol, Scott Ritter and Brian Berletic, the only 3 people I've found so far who fully understand this. I've done the math on the kinetic energy of the submunitions (using estimates for mass), and I've studied up on what's publicly known about these weapons so far. My conclusion? NATO is done. The west has no idea what just hit them. Russia's Oreshnik weapon system is checkmate for NATO and the USA. All U.S. aircraft carriers can be destroyed in minutes. All U.S. military bases, all underground bunkers, all ICBM launch sites, naval shipyards, etc., can be destroyed with NON-NUCLEAR kinetic energy via the Oreshnik.

You’re right. You see I’m not very technical.

Russia’s New Ballistic Missile Reached Mach 11 as it
Plunged Back to Earth, Says Ukraine Military

Mach 11 = 8373.52362204721 mph

That is ~12,281fps

NASA tested their X-43A to something like mach 10 several years ago, so I would assume the military would have something as good or better by now. War and its tools are not going to get any less scary in the future, so we might as well get used to it. Better to just not get into a war.

“I suggest you study the massive underground weapons facility in Dnipro that was totally destroyed by Vlad’s Oreshnik missile attack. 1 mile by 1 1/2 miles- gone.”

You keep posting Russian propaganda but don’t back it up with links.

Sort of like your pimping Martin Armstrong.

A .22 caliber pistol is a kinetic weapon.

Figured that out all by yourself?

The point of the article is that these NON-NUKES can hit anywhere any time and there's not a fkn thing we can do about it. Vlad is even giving 72 hr warnings for fks sake.

Try following along... instead of Zeepin' like a damned fool.

ICBMs travel up to 15,000 miles an hour....just tilt that sucker to 5°....and fire..Oreshnik is rated at 8,000 mph..

Jane’s Defense has a nice analysis. Instead of the semi-hysterical attitude of MSM...

This missile is said to travel at mach 9. Anything traveling at over 4000 miles an hour is going to take out ANYTHING it hits. Period.

Think about it for a minute. A bullet is a kinetic weapon, but it will not compare to a twenty foot long multi-ton mass hitting something at over 4000 miles an hour.

“If DC declares war on Russia, the Capitol, White House and Pentagon could disappear 5 minutes after our radar picked up the inbound Oreshnik.” The current “guess” with the Russian subs around the US is about 20 minutes. But even with 5, we have the capacity to launch our less brilliant weapons and turn Russia into a wasteland in less than a year besides the initial destructions of the weapons sent. This was the creed of the cold war…choice or suicide.

Kinetic energy is the energy an object has because of its motion. And yes, we have been working with kinetic energy in areas people wouldn’t dream of for over 30 years. And it doesn’t have to have an “object,” it can be sound or light waves like a lazer Nobody has anything really new. Everyone knows what everyone is doing. Standoff.

Nuclear war is bad in many ways—but one of the positive things about that capability is that political leadership can be destroyed in a nuclear attack.

That is effective deterrence.

The idea of sending off young men to die in major ground wars while leadership remains safe is off the table.

That is a good thing.

"Where does the assumption we can’t counter these weapons..."
Hypersonic missiles are simply much too fast to be countered with current missile defense systems. In the Euro theatre, by the time they see them coming, it is a few scant minutes until impact. Not 15 or 20 minutes, a handful - 5 minutes or less.

The hypersonic speed of a few kilos of payload - no explosives needed - ensures massive penetrating damage. White-not plasma envelopes, 6000 degrees, burns if not flash incererates everything at the point of impact.

What was said about taking out an aircraft carrier, a military installation, downtown skyscrapers, all in minutes - should terrify us all.

“Where does the assumption we can’t counter these weapons or don’t already have them ourselves come from?”

The tech does not exist to counter them.

Sure, we can make our own...and probably fairly quickly...by cannibalizing our existing ICBMs. That may not be a real good idea.

New platform? Years.

I am no expert but am of the opinon that while the US largely abandoned research into hypersonic, favoring wasting many billions on the over-burdened F35 program, Russia developed their hypersonic program by modifying existing tech to deliver medium-range payloads at fantastic speed, making such missiles virtually unstoppable.

Using 2 different kinetic energy calculators, including SAAMI’s, I obtained identical results for a 36 grain projectile:
Mach 10: 10155 ft/lb
Mach 20: 40460 ft/lb

It’s E= mc^2...not E= m^2c^2...has to do with conversion of mass to energy..note “c” = speed of light
You might be thinking about the kinetic energy formula...
I.e. Kinetic Energy = 1/2mass times velocity squared...
KE = 1/2m(v^2)

Please note: Average speed of 22 caliber bullet is about 1200 feet per second(approx 820mph)...mach 0.3 is about 230 mph...still it might blow a hole in the human skull at that speed and close range..but just maybe...would cause a lot of hurt...

FYI..

and Freegards...

One of the problems with “blank check budgets” is the inevitable outcome of waste and fraud. The focus shifts from inventiveness and necessity to just wallowing around in unlimited funds. “Overbudget and behind schedule? No problem. Here’s another hundred $billion, but remember your friends.”

The “logical” defense is that any use of these weapons against us will precipitate a massive nuclear counterstrike. So we’re back to MAD (as if we haven’t been all along. Whether anyone has the stomach for that is the question.

The US has been developing similar weapons for years. My guess is that we have operational systems but don’t want to demonstrate them until the sabres really need rattling. It ways something about Russia’s level of desperation that they unleashed theirs now — they don’t have anything left to escvlate with but this and nukes. Proxy wars are prime venues for testing weapons and tactics for the next big show.

No rational US current so-called leader wants a 'next big show.' Unfortunately, the neo-con crazies still have the power to incenerate us all for a couple more months.
