So far, almost nobody in the west fully comprehends the Oreshnik weapon system just demonstrated by Russia. Hat tip to Ted Postol, Scott Ritter and Brian Berletic, the only 3 people I've found so far who fully understand this. I've done the math on the kinetic energy of the submunitions (using estimates for mass), and I've studied up on what's publicly known about these weapons so far. My conclusion? NATO is done. The west has no idea what just hit them. Russia's Oreshnik weapon system is checkmate for NATO and the USA. All U.S. aircraft carriers can be destroyed in minutes. All U.S. military bases, all underground bunkers, all ICBM launch sites, naval shipyards, etc., can be destroyed with NON-NUCLEAR kinetic energy via the Oreshnik.

“I don’t think you know what the word “kinetic” means.”
You have the right idea. From Wikipedia:
“All kinetic weapons work by attaining a high flight speed — generally supersonic or even up to hypervelocity — and collide with their targets, converting their kinetic energy and relative impulse into destructive shock waves, heat and cavitation.”
Sounds like the warhead contains no explosives.
US needs to develop and deploy the old Rods from God kinetic weapon.

The US needs to stop its forever wars and take care of America. Senile Joe’s Ukie war was “ one bridge to far”, I hope the war cheerleaders learn a valuable lesson, senile Joe’s Ukie debacle is historic, outdoing his Afghanistan debacle x a thousand.

Yes, a .22 is. So is a .223 caliber.
A 36 gr .22 LR velocity is 1280 FPS with a muzzle energy of 131 ft lbs.
Hornady 55 gr .223 velocity is 3240 fps with a muzzle energy of 1282 ft lbs.
See the difference velocity makes? Now get a .22 projectile going Mach 20 and either the 36 or 55 grain 22 could probably knock a locomotive off it’s tracks.
I prefer a 5.56 round over a .223 round simply because the higher velocity makes it more accurate at a longer distance.
Heinlein’s “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress” comes to mind. Launching rocks from there was pretty effective at attacking Earth.

I knew someomne would correct me.
C’mon... Read the sentence. They were talking about the surrounding areas.
“Zero damage, zero fallout in Alexandria!”
Seems such a simple notion, until one estimates the amount of money pouring into the pockets of a few, while the many lose.
"Blessed are the peacemakers" implies its negation -- the damnation coming to those who do not. ( Read that somewhere....)
Remember how proud Americans felt about the F-117 stealth fighter? I expect the Russians have the same sort of pride for the Oreshnik missile. The missile’s impact on war is overstated in the X post but it will have an impact and significantly strengthened Russia’s position in the war and the eventual peace.
DugwayDouche back from his coma. Where were you dude?
I think the point is that at Mach 10 the kinetic energy is elevated. I am not a physicist, but you can get the idea from a .22 slug which is also a kinetic weopon. If you toss it across the room is it pretty harmless. But at Mach 0.30 it will blow a hole in your skull. I am guessing that E= (MC)(MC) means something more serious that times 10.
HAHAHA! Someone who understands physics! Love it.
I’m concerned we are on a downward trajectory with intellectual abilities here in the US compared to our adversities.
Just the fact that Harris was even a contender for POTUS told me we are not the most advanced society anymore.
We used to be the ones who designed and developed these new technologies. Now it’s China and Russia.
Probably technology stolen from the U.S. in exchange for a donation to the Clinton Foundation.
Agreed.
As so today is posted here on FR:
I understand that, but at Mach 3.0, the whole in your skull is still only the size of the .22. And of course when it goes out the other side, the hole is larger.

Mach 11 = 8373.52362204721 mph
There was an article posted yesterday that had a picture of a crater in Dnipro.
It is instructive to study it.
