And so it goes as Joe Biden fades to transparency and his handlers howl in outrage and plot Trump’s, and America’s, destruction.
After the horrific hurricane damage that destroyed or damaged as many as 100,000 homes in Western North Carolina, one would think FEMA and local officials would move heaven and earth to get those affected out of flimsy tents and trailers and into solid dwellings as winter inexorably descends. One would think wrongly:
WNC resident (and X user) Margo reported last month that her area had "56 passenger bus load groups of skilled Amish carpenters coming down from Lancaster PA weekly to help build tiny homes for Cabins for Christ." Margo was doing her bit, looking for help finding room to lodge all of the volunteers. "We are bringing our own supplies and would be 100% self-sufficient," she posted, "Just need a place under [a] roof to sleep and house our volunteers from Monday night through Friday night every week."
That’s the kind of selflessness Americans have always revered. How many tiny homes have they built?
Teamed up with Cabins 4 Christ, the Amish volunteers have been working five-day shifts before swapping out for the next team of volunteers. Nobody seems to know how many tiny homes have been built. But I used my paid research assistant, ChatGPT, to do some investigating for me. For whatever it's worth, ChatGPT claims that "In disaster relief efforts, such as the recent North Carolina project, Amish carpenters often build small cabins in as little as 5 days."
If a small team can build a home each week, and there are hundreds of volunteers working for almost four weeks, they must have built more than a hundred quality cottages by now. All on their own dime.

Agreed...
Trump will have his hands full, but I am sure he will achieve some success...It is also very important to elect ANOTHER after Trump with the same mindset...
In 2022 one of my Amish clients lost his 3 story 140 ft long dairy barn to fire. They were in the lower level milking when a diesel engine running a compressor caught fire and spread to the barn. It was a total loss. They managed to save the cows.
It took two weeks from the day of the fire to have a completely rebuilt barn the same size and move the cows back in for milking.
Two hundred and fifty Amish men descended on the ruins, cleaned up the mess, and rebuilt the barn.
The women set up picnic tables under tents and provided meals.
What is amazing, they did it without electricity. They had power tools, but they all ran on air. Even the Dewalt miter saws were converted to pneumatic.
They worked in teams and another client that is an Amish contractor coordinated the entire build.
It was amazing. The greatest delay was fighting the township zoning for permits. Eventually, the township backed down as there was no electricity of toilets in the building.
Of interest o me is “what code”
Do the rural NC counties actually have a building code?
heads up

I don’t think they actually kicked anybody out of them. That’s the word we are getting.

What kept FEMA and Co from kicking those people out?
I suspect we may be beyond saving without a cultural conflagration at some point.
But I view my own suspicion as defeatist, and will keep hope that we did take the first step to keep us from going over that cliff.
And in that light, I am hopeful. IMO, Trump knows he has one term, probably closer to 20 months to accomplish anything. But he has assembled a body of people in his wake to follow up when he leaves, beginning with J.D. Vance, who looks like the real deal.
There is quite a lineup of promising Conservatives.
The Left?
The Left has nothing on their side. Newsome? Ocasio-Cortez? Harris? I laughed even as I typed that. They have nothing from the perspective of competency or even moral solidity. They do have people who will break the law, and for them, that is all they need.
I am totally with you on the fact that we DO have some very good Conservatives that would work to keep the USA a great country...
As you said, the left has nothing...What concerns me about the left/democrats is there are many people who are blinded by liberalism and refuse to see what actually happens...Also, the known election fraud perpetuated by the left that is hard to control...
I think you are allowed to live in them but not sell them or finance them without an inspection. My house did not pass inspection.
So, they are “ storage sheds”, not “ houses” .
Or dog houses…big enough to sleep in
~~~
They’ve lost everything they owned. It’s winter. A storage shed is better than a tent and a certain upgrade against the winter wind. I suspect that in their circumstances, they’re grateful to God for the shelter they have and aren’t complaining that it’s just a dog house to sleep in.
Your comment is unkind to their plight.
On Thursday, be sure to give thanks for your warm and dry home, with clean water and a kitchen to prepare more food than you can eat in one meal. These people don’t even own a dinner plate.
The suffering, sleeping in tents and sheds will not have even one of the luxuries you will take for granted. Maybe pray for them too.
Are the Democrats still flying illegal aliens to luxury hotels and giving them phones and credit cards?
If by fired you mean hung from a tall tree, then I agree.
Bless these Amish people for their kindness and generosity to give shelter to these homeless and curse these bureaucrats who would have those who lost their homes face the winter in tents. Where are the FEMA trailers and do they meet local codes?
Those houses built by the Amish were donated, not sold or financed, so how did FEMA justify trying to kick people out of them?
Yes...there IS hope. And not the putrid changey-hopey crap the Left has!
How do you know FEMA kicked them out?
I’m starting to wonder about that; is there a second source besides this:
