And so it goes as Joe Biden fades to transparency and his handlers howl in outrage and plot Trump’s, and America’s, destruction.
After the horrific hurricane damage that destroyed or damaged as many as 100,000 homes in Western North Carolina, one would think FEMA and local officials would move heaven and earth to get those affected out of flimsy tents and trailers and into solid dwellings as winter inexorably descends. One would think wrongly:
WNC resident (and X user) Margo reported last month that her area had "56 passenger bus load groups of skilled Amish carpenters coming down from Lancaster PA weekly to help build tiny homes for Cabins for Christ." Margo was doing her bit, looking for help finding room to lodge all of the volunteers. "We are bringing our own supplies and would be 100% self-sufficient," she posted, "Just need a place under [a] roof to sleep and house our volunteers from Monday night through Friday night every week."
That’s the kind of selflessness Americans have always revered. How many tiny homes have they built?
Teamed up with Cabins 4 Christ, the Amish volunteers have been working five-day shifts before swapping out for the next team of volunteers. Nobody seems to know how many tiny homes have been built. But I used my paid research assistant, ChatGPT, to do some investigating for me. For whatever it's worth, ChatGPT claims that "In disaster relief efforts, such as the recent North Carolina project, Amish carpenters often build small cabins in as little as 5 days."
If a small team can build a home each week, and there are hundreds of volunteers working for almost four weeks, they must have built more than a hundred quality cottages by now. All on their own dime.

That bureaucrat should be fired.
Wow.
It appears that there is more than one. Fire one and another takes its place. If you truly want this to stop, string a few of them up. Their replacements may be a bit more timid when expressing their 'authoritah'. JMO
Your government hates you and wants you to die.
Tents meet code?
So, they are “ storage sheds”, not “ houses” .
Or dog houses…big enough to sleep in
Absolutely no question about that.
This is why thousands of Amish in PA voted for Trump. (Thank you, Scott Presler!)
I don’t think they actually kicked anybody out of them. That’s the word we are getting.
Thanks for the link. The comments are spot on. Heads on pikes.
Standing out in the cold this winter or living in tents doesn’t pass code either. Those tiny houses (assuming they have some kind of heat) would be better & they might even be pretty efficient at conserving heat. If I lived there, I’d surely accept one compared the alternative. If the state insists on building to code, what will it do about those who may perish this winter?
We must find a way to dial this back. Way back.
When the government got involved in regulating how much water toilets could use with each flush, many around here, myself included said:
If Government can control how much water is used when you flush your toilet, there is nothing they will not control.
I have zero doubt that the vicious bureaucrats at the local and state levels who kicked people out of those small shacks that were put up leaned on codes and statutes similar to that one.
This proves that bureaucrats, no matter how petty, can become tyrants with that power granted to them. Obviously some resist this, but given the types who gravitate to many of those positions, the number who do succumb to it are either more numerous or more influential.
Would anyone be surprised, even 1/1000th of a degree of surprise, if local, state, or federal resources arrived on site with bulldozers to level the temporary shelters?
This is where we are with Governments at all levels. They are not here to help. They are here to preserve their jobs. (with apologies to those in Government jobs who do not fit this description, they do exist)
I would like to know if people are actually being “kicked out”, and also what the code violations are. It seems to me both of these would be very easy to determine.
It is way past time to get Trump back into office and eliminate much of the government CRAP!!!!!!!!!!
Neither do cars. Very cold weather coming in - people, including children, will suffer & some may even die. The inhumanity is off the charts.
Agreed.
Thing is, Government (the capitalization is deliberate) may have achieved a critical mass, and will be able to resist all attempts to rein it in. We may already be too late.
But I know one thing-if Democrats stay in power, there will be zero chance of turning it around. If someone like Trump is President-there is a chance of some kind.
