Freddie Mercury passed away at the age of 45 at his home in London’s Kensington on the evening of November 24, 1991.
Freddie Mercury’s cause of death was bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS....
In March of this year, I reported that Freddie Mercury’s Kensington home in London was for sale for excess of £30 million. The house was designed in the Neo-Georgian style in 1907 by architect Ernest Marshall for married artists Cecil Rea and Constance Halford...
When he passed away in 1991, Freddie left Garden Lodge to his friend and confidante, Mary Austin. Mary said of the house that “This house has been the most glorious memory box, because it has such love and warmth in every room. It has been a joy to live in and I have many wonderful memories here. Now that it is empty, I’m transported back to the first time we viewed it. Ever since Freddie and I stepped through the fabled green door, it has been a place of peace, a true artist’s house, and now is the time to entrust that sense of peace to the next person.”

Sad.
RIP. Bump.
Honestly never really liked his voice. Like Dennis De Young of Styx, just too theatrical for me.
Hated Styx, loved Queen. You’re right that his voice was theatrical, but he was one of a kind.
I was in a limo in NYC on the way to do a showcase for Columbia records. The announcement came over the radio and every one of us became emotional. He was such a huge part of the music we all loved growing up. The radio station played “Innuendo” and combined with the sights of NY, it was surreal. Btw, we didn’t get signed to a contract, but in retrospect, I was glad we didn’t. Things turned out for the best.
The vocals from many male rock singers suffered when performing live. Mercury never seemed like he was struggling when singing live. Whether someone liked his singing or not is a different subject.
Freddie was an incredible talent. One of rock’s best front men.
Queen was one of my favorite bands in the 70’s and i saw them live four times from 1977 to 1980, every time at Madison Square Garden.
Everyone says Mercury was a great front man, if not the best- i disagree. I found him to be arrogant, condescending and insulting on stage. Queen also had trouble getting the same sound from their songs on stage compared to vinyl, due to all the overdubbing in the studio.
Once they started with the Fat Bottom Girls, Bicycle, Flash Gordon crap, i split.
I was visiting London from Texas at the time when that announcement was made. Decades later a friend and I visited the street where this house is. Only the warnings on the tall fence and gate were hints that it was something special.
I just got back from a couple of days ago and saw a Freddie Mercury Christmas tree ornament. Tempting….
what a fag
He was a singer.
Not a cigarette.
Your point being is....
That narrow mind will get you not too far in life :)
Yes, he was gay and I don’t like the lifestyle and I won’t be going on any double dates soon with a gay couple.
But how about our lives and pasts?
How about premarital sex? Even been there, done that?
Stole anything, ever?
Cheated, lied, manipulated, deceived, coveted, cursed?
No cause you’re perfect! :)
I am GLAD I only saw one post like yours.
You know what, he danced with fire and he had to pay the band.
I don’t like hanging with gay guys, even a few that go way back to my childhood and came out in their 30s.
Maybe that says more about me than it does about them. I don’t know.
I do know Freddy Mercury was an incredibly talented man and I listen to a lot of his music until today.
He achieved in his short lifetime what most of us will never achieve...bringing happiness to millions.
What happened at his judgement, I don’t know. No one knows what he said to G-d in his final days.
But I’ll tell you what, he went down fighting and worked on his last album skinny like a toothpick and weak as heck and told his band mates “don’t pity me, it’s so depressing and boring” or something along those lines.
What bothers me most about your post is I use that word at home sometimes when I see a gay actor or singer.
Now it seems like an ugly thing to say and I will work on that.
I dont approve of the lifestyle and never will.
But I disapprove just as much at your comment.
RIP Freddy
So he would be 78 now. Trump’s age. Also Stallone, Bill Clinton, Dolly Parton, Spielberg.
WOW. We must have seen two different bands. Maybe they didn’t feel threatened when they played in CT. ;) I never got the same impression as you did, Queen was the best overall show I’ve ever seen. When it came to special effects, Blue Oyster cult was up there for me.
‘Honestly never really liked his voice, “
You are in the vast minority !
