Russia Responds to NATO Ally's Alleged Offer to Freeze Ukraine War

Russia will not accept a reported Turkey-formulated proposal to end to the fighting in Ukraine after nearly 1,000 days of war, the Kremlin said on Monday, as the prospect of a ceasefire that had long seemed unrealistic looms over the horizon with a new U.S. presidency.

Bloomberg reported on Sunday that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was preparing to present a plan to fellow G20 leaders, which would freeze the war in Ukraine along the front lines currently snaking for hundreds of miles through the country. The Turkish leader would lay out the plans during the summit in Rio de Janeiro on Monday, the outlet reported.

"The option of freezing the line of military conflict is a priori unacceptable for the Russian side," Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Monday, responding to the report.

One idea floated among officials in Trump's camp could see Ukraine pledging not to join NATO for at least 20 years, while Washington continues funneling weapons into the country to dissuade Russia from launching fresh attacks, The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month.

The conflict would become frozen, with Russia keeping a grip on roughly a fifth of Ukraine. A demilitarized zone would mark Kyiv's and Moscow's control down the current front lines, likely policed by European forces.

Erdogan will propose that Ukraine delays talks on joining NATO for at least a decade, Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed people briefed on the president's thinking. The plan will feature a demilitarized zone in eastern Ukraine, where international troops could be placed, according to the report.

No reason for the russkies to entertain a damn thing until PDJT takes office. They know it, we know it.

The war will continue until 1/20/25, absent a sudden Ukie gov. collapse. The Ukes have guns to the backs of their soldiers and the russkies are on the move and will consolidate as much as possible up to that time. They know it, we know it.

The rest is white noise and ratings pablum.

a sudden Ukie gov. collapse.

Russia is more likely to collapse before UKR. Right now there is a huge shortage of male workers inside Russia, and meanwhile, the ruble has fallen to a penny each. And their reserve holdings are almost dried up.

Due to huge losses all along the front (1500-1750 casualties a day), Russia has to call up more men, but that is very unpopular and would only make the labor shortage worse.

Reports are Uke is essentially blacked out and no internet service. 1/2 population of entire country has fled, a million dead & x3 maimed, teenagers and 60+ year old grandpas kidnapped off the street for the front lines, & little working industry or farming.

Kinda more impactful than a help wanted sign.

Turkey suggests freezing the conflict along the current lines and Moscow rejects it. It wants more land and complete Ukrainian surrender. But there will still be some here blaming Ukraine for not ending the war.

The Ukies scrapped two peace negotiations already- ask Boris about that. Vlad is just shy regaining the ethnic Russian Donetsk territory….when he accomplishes his clearly stated goals, he MAY start negotiations.

Vlad still holds all the cards. He will keep his five ethnic Russian provinces…the Ukies can have what is left of rest.

Ukraine will concede all lost territory to Russia and agree not join NATO and be neutral country or it will cease to exist.

It is a pure Russian made myth that there was an agreement at Istanbul that was blocked by Boris Johnson. There was no agreement because Russia's demands, like now, were too high.

Ukrainians want their own country separate from the filth and death of the Russian World. The rest, including intellectually bankrupt commentary that demeans their great sacrifices, is “white noise and pablum”.

We’ve heard for literally years now about collapse and “coup” in Ukraine from the Kremlin’s dupes and fellow travellers. Naturally, no comment from them when an actual coup happened in Russia and Moscow was defended from ground attack for the first time since 1941.
