America never really gave Donald Trump a chance... until now. The highest his average approval rating ever got to was 43%, in mid-December, 2016. The best that could be said for him by middle-of-the-road voters had been that he was better than Hillary... again, until now.
YouGov and Morning Consult were two pollsters that were skewed against Trump the hardest: both predicted him losing to Harris by two to four points. But they're the first two pollsters to poll his current approval rating, and they both have him higher than ever: YouGov has him at 49% and Morning Consult at 47%, having polled about 9,000 voters. Again: yes, these are very modest approval ratings, but they are the highest ever for Trump, and from two of the most negative pollsters.
YouGov polled both before and after Trump's first several nominations, and his approval rating held steady while his disapproval rating declined, so that he no longer has a net negative rating.
This is big, because someone who hates Trump will continue to consume the swill offered by CNN, MSNBC and other comedians. But as people reject the notion that he's a misogynist, racist criminal, those voices will seem more and more offensive. People with favorable views aren't locked in to vote for him in four years, but they are locked in to rejecting the narrative boilerplate.
On the other hand, voters turned against Bush in a big way, but consider why: he was a failure economically, politically and militarily. Jokes that would've unthinkable in 2002 became obligatory by 2006. Trump simply needs to succeed to maintain control of the narrative. And he's off to a great start. His favorability also presses the Senate towards cooperation, something he never had even within his own party in 2017.

I should note that neither 538 nor RCP show Trump so high in their average ratings, but those ratings include pre-election polls which lower the averages significantly.
Em…Trump has always had high ratings.
Among us, yes. According to pollsters, no. I included the sources.
Pollsters are judging by cheat standard. Still are
Trump has always been popular
Probably, but you’re missing the point: he’s more popular than ever.
Lots of Americans have flipped because the democrats have shown them how nasty, unethical and unfair they are.
Trump’s campaign manager was God. From the perfect timing of the head turn in Butler to the American public FINALLY embracing him right down the stretch.
The left were feeling good going into election night...how sweet it is.
Here’s the big question I’ve seen no one touch.
Final votes not counted yet, but Trump is estimated to end up at 75.5-76mm votes, maybe half a million more than 2020.
Harris expected to finish at about 71 million.
Biden got 81 million votes in 2020!
10 million less votes cast for the Democrat in 2024? They didn’t go to Trump, where did they go?!!
Answer: Either 10mm Dem voters stayed home or Biden got millions of fake votes in 2020.
10 million less votes cast for the Democrat in 2024? They didn’t go to Trump, where did they go?!!
States need electoral colleges
I don’t think so.
